October is AAC Awareness Month! 💙
Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) gives individuals who have difficulty with spoken language more ways to express their thoughts, needs, feelings, and ideas.
From picture-based communication boards to speech-generating devices, AAC helps children connect with others, make choices, build relationships, and participate in everyday life.
✨ Communication isn't limited to spoken words. Every child deserves to be heard, understood, and supported in the way that works best for them.
This month, let's celebrate different ways of communicating and the importance of giving every child a voice.

Hello everyone,
My name is Yamara (Mara). I have been an RBT for seven years with all around experience in different settings. A few fun facts about me: I am an auntie of two and I enjoy being with them Monday through Friday. I love painting, attending brunch, hanging out with my varies groups of friends, and my ultimate favorite thing, taking naps. I find joy being the light in a room to make people feel comfortable and welcomed in every space. So, my door is always open 🙂. My goal with being apart of GBA is to help these families and my team find the best fit for each and every family. I’m excited to be with the team and looking forward to the journey ahead.

📚 Behavioral Success from the Start of the School Year

Tomorrow, Tuesday, August 25 at 12:00 PM EST, GBA will be hosting a complimentary one-hour virtual training for families, educators, school leaders, and the professionals who support them.

Led by Brian Brutzman, Ph.D., BCBA, LBA, Director of School-Based Services, the training will focus on practical ways to recognize behavioral needs early, put proactive supports in place, and help prevent behavioral challenges from becoming barriers to learning.

Tomorrow, our team is hosting Navigating Autism as a Foster Parent, a complimentary training designed to support foster families and the professionals who walk alongside them.

Foster parents of children with autism often face questions like:
• Is this behavior related to trauma, autism, or both?
• Where do we start when our child is struggling?
• What resources are available, and how do we access them?

Led by Sam Blanco, PhD, BCBA-D, LBA, Chief Clinical Officer and a foster and adoptive parent herself, this session provides practical guidance, actionable strategies, and compassionate support for navigating these unique challenges.
