As of July 28, 2026, these are the major recalls most relevant to families. What parents should know:
🥚 Eggs: Midwest Poultry Services recalled approximately 1.59 million dozen shell eggs because of possible Salmonella contamination. The recall includes certain Country Morning, Cal-Maine Sunups, Brookshire’s, Kroger and Simple Truth white or brown cage-free eggs with:
* Plant code P-1950 or 0840962
* Julian dates 157–184
* Sell-by or best-by dates July 20–August 17, 2026
The outbreak includes 98 illnesses in 17 states—including Georgia—26 hospitalizations and no deaths. However, confirmed retail distribution is currently limited to Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, New Mexico, Oklahoma and Texas; Georgia has not been identified as a confirmed retail-distribution state.

🥬 Iceberg lettuce: Taylor Farms de Mexico recalled iceberg lettuce sourced from central Mexico because of its connection to a Cyclospora outbreak. Retail products include select Marketside Iceberg Salad and Shredded Lettuce sold at Walmart, with best-if-used-by dates from July 18–August 3, 2026.
The recalled retail lettuce was sold at select Walmart stores in 15 states, including Georgia. Recalled foodservice lettuce was distributed in 27 states and supplied certain Taco Bell locations. As of July 24, the outbreak included 1,947 illnesses, 98 hospitalizations and no deaths. Confirmed outbreak cases were reported in nine states; Georgia was included in product distribution but not among the nine states reporting confirmed cases.
🥓 Current meat recall: Maple Leaf Foods recalled approximately 12,036 pounds of Royale Natural Applewood Smoked Uncured Bacon and Top Valu Uncured Hardwood Smoked Bacon because the Canadian products entered the United States without required import reinspection. The products have sell-by dates of September 1–7, 2026 and were distributed in Idaho, Oregon and Washington—not Georgia. No illnesses or injuries have been reported.
A widely shared meatball recall is older but may still matter because the product is frozen. Bremer Family Size Italian Style Meatballs sold at Aldi nationwide were recalled in February for possible metal fragments. The affected 32-ounce packages have a best-by date of October 30, 2026 and establishment number EST. 4286B. Families should check their freezers.
Parents should not serve affected products. Throw them away or return them to the store, and clean any refrigerator surfaces or containers they touched. Contact your child’s healthcare provider if symptoms develop after eating a recalled food. (404) 252-4611
