We are proud of our 4-week Summer Literacy Camp hosted at Jonesboro United Methodist Church in partnership with El Refugio. This program is designed to help young students strengthen their reading skills while also providing enrichment and support for families.

Last summer, we served 44 students, including:
• 14 rising first graders
• 21 rising second graders
• 9 rising third graders

Each student received 80 hours of literacy instruction and 27 hours of enrichment and care. Throughout the program, we also provided more than 1,760 meals and hosted four family engagement events to support learning at home.

Most importantly, our students demonstrated an average of two months of reading growth during the program.

We are excited to prepare for the Summer Literacy Camp in July 2026. As with any nonprofit initiative, the success of this program is only possible because our community surrounds us with generosity, encouragement, and support.
