June is PTSD Awareness Month.

PTSD doesn't just affect veterans and service members. It can impact first responders, trauma survivors, and anyone who has lived through a distressing experience.

It can show up as trouble sleeping, feeling constantly on edge, avoiding certain places or memories, mood changes, or feeling disconnected from the people around you.

These responses are not a sign of weakness. They're a sign that your mind is trying to process something difficult. And support is available.
If you or someone you know is struggling, reaching out to a healthcare provider or behavioral health specialist is a step worth taking.

When Dr. George Mychaskiw II, a cardiac anesthesiologist with more than 35 years of experience, came to work at Orange County Global Medical Center, the perioperative team left an impression.

From rooms starting on time to turnover times under 20 minutes, he saw a team that holds itself to a high standard every day. Not because they're told to, but because they take pride in what they do.

"The most efficient OR I have ever experienced in more than 35 years of anesthesiology practice."

πŸ’™ Thank you, Dr. Mychaskiw, for sharing your experience.

June is Alzheimer's & Brain Awareness Month.

More than 6 million Americans are living with Alzheimer's, and the early signs can be easy to miss. Changes in memory, mood, communication, or daily routines may seem small at first, but noticing them early can make a real difference.

Healthy habits like staying active, eating well, and keeping your mind engaged can help support long-term brain health. And if you're caring for a loved one, small things like keeping routines simple, giving them time to respond, and offering reassurance instead of correction can go a long way.

If you notice ongoing changes in someone you love, don't wait. Start the conversation with a healthcare provider.

This National CPR & AED Awareness Week, KPC Health is highlighting a skill that can save a life.

CPR can double or triple a person's chance of survival during cardiac arrest. And you don't need to be a medical professional to make a difference.

Here's what to remember:
❀️ Call 911
❀️ Start chest compressions: 30 compressions at 100 to 120 per minute
❀️ Use an AED if one is available

Learning CPR is one of the simplest ways to be there for the people around you.

A look back at the KPC Health moments that made headlines this month.

❀️ Orange County Global Medical Center honored National Trauma Survivors Day, celebrating the patients who've made it through the unimaginable and the trauma teams who never leave their side.

πŸš‘ Hemet Global Medical Center marked EMS Week by unveiling major upgrades for first responders, including expanded ambulance bays, a new EMS lounge, and a state-of-the-art Cardiovascular Operating Room.

πŸ₯ Orange County Global Medical Center also raised the Donate Life flag to honor organ, eye, and tissue donors whose gifts saved and changed hundreds of lives.

Proud of the people behind every one of these stories.

May is Melanoma and Skin Cancer Awareness Month, and in Southern California, sun safety isn't seasonal. It's year-round.

Skin cancer is the most common cancer in the U.S., but it's also one of the most preventable. Here's what you should know:

β˜€οΈ Wear SPF 30+ sunscreen daily, and reapply every 2 hours
πŸ•ΆοΈ Seek shade during peak sun hours (10am–4pm)
πŸ” Check your skin monthly for any new or changing moles, freckles, or spots

Know the ABCDEs: Asymmetry, Border irregularity, Color changes, Diameter over 6mm, and Evolving shape or size. If something looks off, see a dermatologist; early detection saves lives.
