Veterans may face unique challenges that can increase their risk for su***de, including the effects of trauma, major life transitions, isolation, and difficulty reconnecting with life after service. But help, hope, and connection are possible.

Sometimes, the most important thing we can do is simply ask, “How are you really doing?” and remind someone that they don’t have to face their struggles alone.

Through Strong Families Strong Children, Child Guidance Center provides mental health support for veterans, active-duty service members, and military-connected families. Our services include individual, family, and group therapy, psychological assessment, crisis intervention, parenting education, and more.

💙 If you or someone you love is struggling, reaching out is a sign of strength, not weakness.

If you are experiencing a mental health crisis or thoughts of su***de, call or text 988 and press 1 for the Veterans Crisis Line.

Strong Families Strong Children is here to help.
Because supporting those who served means making sure they know they don't have to walk through the difficult moments alone.

💙 The statistic is heartbreaking: su***de is the 2nd leading cause of death among youth and young adults.

But behind every statistic is a young person with a story, a family who loves them, and a future that still holds possibilities.

Su***de prevention begins with connection. It begins with noticing when something feels different, asking the question, listening without judgment, and reminding young people that they do not have to face difficult moments alone.

At Child Guidance Center, we believe that asking for help is a sign of strength, not weakness. Our team provides compassionate, evidence-based mental health services designed to support children, youth, and families as they navigate challenges, build resilience, and work toward healthier futures.

Sometimes, the most important thing we can say is simply:

“I’m here. I’m listening. You matter.”

This Su***de Prevention Awareness Month, let’s move beyond awareness and toward action. Start the conversation. Check in. Listen. Connect someone to support.

Because hope grows when we don’t face life’s hardest moments alone. 💙

If you or someone you know is struggling or in crisis, call or text 988 for the Su***de & Crisis Lifeline. If there is immediate danger, call 911.

Today is World Su***de Prevention Day. 💛
Sometimes, “How are you?” isn’t enough. Ask again. 💛

Sometimes the child who suddenly becomes quiet is carrying something they don't know how to say.
Sometimes the teenager who says, “Nobody cares,” is hoping someone will prove them wrong.
Sometimes a veteran who seems to have everything together is fighting a battle no one can see.
And sometimes, a military family that looks strong from the outside is struggling behind closed doors.

World Su***de Prevention Day is a reminder that we don't have to wait for someone to ask for help before we reach out.

At Child Guidance Center and Strong Families Strong Children, we believe that connection matters. Children and families deserve safe spaces where they can talk about difficult emotions, trauma, grief, stress, and the moments when life feels overwhelming.

So today, check in.

💛 Ask the question...even when it feels uncomfortable.
💛 Listen without judgment.
💛 Take changes in behavior seriously.
💛 Remind them that they don't have to face it alone.
💛 Help connect them with professional support when they need it.

One conversation can open a door.
One person can offer hope.
One moment of connection can make a difference.

If you or someone you know is struggling, call or text 988 to reach the Su***de & Crisis Lifeline. Veterans and service members can press 1 after calling 988 or text 838255 for specialized support.

And if you're worried about a child or teen, don't dismiss their words or changes in behavior as “just a phase.” Listen. Ask. Connect.

Because prevention isn't just about saving lives when someone is in crisis.

It's about creating a world where people feel safe enough to say, “I’m not okay,” and know that someone will be there to listen. 💛
