Do you find yourself thinking and saying things like, “The pandemic was supposed to be nearly over,” and “We should have been able to return to normal life by now”?

As Marsha Linehan reminds us, when we say reality should be different, we are saying that the rules of the universe should be different - that causes should not have effects.

Despair, bitterness, and resentment result from failures in radical acceptance. By accepting what is true, conceding the facts of the moment, and ceasing to fight our current reality, we can find peace with it. This means bringing a willingness to fully accept the moment - with our heart, mind, and body.

May we open ourselves to the reality of where we are in this pandemic right now, and thus gain the freedom and peace that comes with radical acceptance.

Help us link clients in need of specialized treatment with DBT as it was designed to be delivered. Marsha Linehan fully supports this mission, and your donation in any amount helps. Click here to help: http://dbt-lbc.org/index.php?page=101173/. Together we are making a difference.

Practicing Beginners Mind means observing the world around you with pure curiosity & possibilities , leaving behind preconceptions or expectations . A beautiful short cut to this practice is to try and channel your inner 4 year old . Remember the amazement of trying an Oreo cookie for the first time ? Or the delight in holding a string to tether a floating balloon? That moment of enthralled attention is the purest form of beginners mind. On this Mindful Monday , what can you channel through Beginners Mind ? Please feel free leave a favorite Beginners Mind moment from today or any day in the comments, and know that your willingness may inspire others to do the same !
