Monday Mobility + Strength Challenge

Figure 4 on your back → rotate → plant your foot → stand using only your elbow.

Our volunteers really tried!!! Respect…but it wasn’t pretty and the challenge is still up for grabs!

Think you can do it better?

Golden State Performance is growing, and we are so excited to introduce the newest member of our team.

Meet Jewelyssa — our new administrative team member who will be helping us deliver the seamless, high-quality experience our patients deserve from day one.

Jewelyssa is currently pursuing her Bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology: Applied Fitness at CSUN, with a strong interest in strength and conditioning. A former competitive soccer player and swimmer turned strength training enthusiast, she understands the athlete mindset because she lives it.

Outside of the gym and classroom, you’ll find her at a concert, a sporting event, or winning game night with friends and family. We are so glad she’s here. Welcome to the team, Jewelyssa. 🧡

Athletes spend a lot of time training the things they can see in the mirror. Thoracic mobility rarely makes the highlight reel…until your shoulder starts complaining, your low back is always tight, or your overhead position looks like a question mark.

This is my go-to flow after long stretches at a computer or between training sessions. Five moves, all targeting thoracic mobility:

The sequence:
→ T-spine extension + lat pullover over foam roller (core on — don’t let your low back arch)
→ T-spine rotations on the roller
→ Quadruped thread the needle, band assisted
→ Quadruped T-spine rotations, band assisted
→ Half kneeling T-spine mobilization at the wall

The band assistance on the quadruped work is a game changer if you feel like you’re fighting for range — it helps you access rotation you might not be able to get on your own yet.

Save this one. Your shoulders and low back will thank you. 🧡

Messages like this fill my cup. 🥹 Helping people go from overwhelmed by pain to confident in their body and their training — that’s the whole mission. So grateful for patients who trust the process.

Monday Mobility Challenge 🔥

Start in a plank. Squeeze a ball between your elbow and knee with one foot on the ground, core engaged.

Now rotate into a side plank, extend that leg straight… and come back without dropping the ball.

Sounds simple. Feels impossible to do perfectly. 😅

Can YOU do it? Drop your results below ⬇️

Super shoes showing promising results for everyday runners…but before you drop $300, ask yourself: are you sleeping enough? Eating well? Strength training consistently? A 2–3% energy boost means nothing if the basics aren’t locked in first. Nail those, THEN consider the upgrade. 👟

Hot take: a lot of rehab is accidentally teaching athletes to be afraid of their own bodies.

Rest when you’re truly injured? Yes. But prolonged rest without a return-to-load plan isn’t recovery, but a delay.

“Avoid squatting / deadlifting / running” without any path back to it? That’s not rehab. That’s just avoidance with a copay.

The laminated sheet of 6 exercises handed to every patient regardless of sport, history, or goals? Not a program. It’s a printout.

And the ultrasound-e-stim-heat-see-you-next-week routine? It might feel like something is happening. But passive modalities alone don’t build resilience — they just feel good temporarily.

Athletes don’t want to just feel okay. They want to perform. That requires progressive loading, a plan built around their actual goals, and a PT who understands the difference between managing symptoms and solving the problem.

That’s the standard we hold at Golden State Performance. 🧡

✨ Testimonial Tuesday ✨

Lower back pain and sciatica that’s creeping into your everyday life? That’s not something you just have to live with. 💛

This patient came in struggling to do the activities they loved — and walked away stronger, less painful, and performing better across the board. That’s exactly the kind of outcome we’re here for at Golden State Performance Physical Therapy in Ventura, CA.

If pain is holding you back from living fully, we’d love to be the last PT you ever need. Link in bio to get started. 👇

You’ve probably Googled your pain. You’ve probably thought about PT. You might even have a gym buddy who swears by it.

And yet… you’re still waiting for your doctor to tell you it’s okay.

Here’s the thing: you never needed that permission. In California (and all 50 states), you can walk directly into a physical therapy clinic. No referral required!

74% of Americans have considered PT. 90% still got there through a physician referral. That gap isn’t a coincidence — it’s decades of conditioning that’s costing you time, money, and weeks of unnecessary pain.

We’re here to change that conversation.
