If you have healthcare, social services, or nonprofit experience, we want you in our 2026 Volunteer cohort!

Get It Done SB is recruiting volunteers for our August training, where you'll learn to help your Santa Barbara neighbors document their healthcare wishes through an Advance Directive, a document that tells doctors and loved ones exactly what treatment you do or don't want if you can no longer make those decisions yourself.

The training will be held on August 6, 13, & 20 from 9:00 AM – 1:00 PM in person at Hospice of Santa Barbara. Attendance on all three dates is required.

Space is limited — applications close July 10!

Congratulations, Adriana Marroquin, Community Initiatives Manager, for 8 years with Hospice of Santa Barbara!

Adriana oversees our collaboration with Santa Barbara Neighborhood Clinics and our Compassionate Care of Carpinteria initiative. In her role, she reaches out to potential referring agencies, educates people about our services, cultivates partnerships, and maintains our data for these programs. Prior to coming to HSB in 2018, she worked at Easy Lift Transportation for six years as the intake and marketing coordinator, and before that at Isla Vista Youth Projects as the THRIVE program coordinator. She holds a B.A in global and religious studies and an M.A. in business administration. Upon finishing her MBA, she was drawn to work for an organization that would allow her to grow as an individual and professional, and contribute to the lives of others.

Thank you, Adriana!

If you're helping an aging parent navigate their health, you already know how quickly things can change. One of the most loving things you can do — for them and for yourself — is to start the conversation about their wishes before a crisis makes it urgent. An Advance Directive gives your parents a voice in their own care, and gives you the clarity to advocate for them confidently. You don't have to have all the answers. You just have to start talking. We can help you both take that step at www.getitdonesb.org.

Get It Done SB (an initiative of Hospice of Santa Barbara) is looking for dedicated volunteers to help Santa Barbara community members put their healthcare wishes in writing through an Advance Directive. An Advance Directive is a simple legal form that puts your healthcare wishes in writing, giving you peace of mind and giving your loved ones clarity during one of life's most difficult moments.

The training will be held on August 6, 13, & 20 from 9:00 AM – 1:00 PM in person at Hospice of Santa Barbara.

Over the course of the year, you'll be paired with an experienced volunteer and learn how to guide individuals through their Advance Directives all while making a profound difference in your community.

Apply by July 10: http://www.getitdonesb.org/become-a-volunteer

Loved connecting with the students and staff at Dos Pueblos High School for their annual Wellness Faire!

Prioritizing mental health and well-being is a community effort, and we’re so grateful to have been a part of this vital event during Mental Health Awareness Month. Thank you to everyone who stopped by our booth to chat and reflect with us!

During our work with clients at HSB, we are often reminded that life is made up of moments both big and small. Sometimes it’s the important milestones that we remember: That trip to France, our wedding day, or the birth of a child. Other times, it’s the small, seemingly insignificant moments that end up sticking with us the most: Caring words from a stranger, a quiet cup of tea with a loved one, or sharing a laugh with a cherished friend. These moments together are part of what makes life so precious.

After a truly special, sold-out afternoon with David Kessler last year, we realized we needed a bit more room to grow. This year, we’re moving back to the Hilton, giving us the extra space to welcome even more of our community to the table as we host an amazing new speaker.

Please mark your calendars for our annual Heroes of Hospice Luncheon, where we gather to honor those who bring light to our community and reflect on what matters most.

This one doesn't get talked about enough: a serious medical event isn't just emotionally overwhelming — it can be financially overwhelming too. Do you know what your insurance covers? Do you have a long-term care plan? Would your family be able to support you through an extended hospital stay? These aren't fun questions, but they're important ones — and Advance Care Planning helps you think through all of it, not just the medical side. Being prepared is one of the kindest things you can do for yourself and your family. We can help you start the conversation. Visit us at www.getitdonesb.org.
