🥋 A belt represents the time you've invested.

Character reflects the choices you make every day.

Respect. Humility. Integrity. Perseverance.

Those are the qualities that define a true martial artist—on and off the mat. Keep earning your belt, but never stop building your character. 💪

🥋 Progress doesn't always show up as a new belt or a trophy.

Sometimes it's the little things—better focus, more confidence, improved technique, or the determination to keep going when things get tough.

Every class, every challenge, and every step forward is proof that your hard work is paying off. Keep showing up—you're growing more than you realize. 💪

One of the most important lessons in ATA is Eternal Grand Master's saying, "Today Not Possible. Tomorrow Possible."

Anything worth doing needs to be thought of first, then followed up with action steps so it can eventually become a reality. Bright Star Martial Arts, a program designed to make martial arts available to more people in our community, would not exist had I not thought about it some 16 years ago. We are still thinking it into existence.

I have found that many students, parents and staff sort of give up on certain ideas the minute a though occurs. Tournament can be one of those ideas that gets tossed aside out of what can be reasonable fear of acceptance, fairness, and negative vs positive experience. So the idea of going to World Championships can feel downright unattainable or even silly.

Even staff fall into this space of not believing that tomorrow is possible. Earlier in the year, I suggested to staff that they might all go to Phoenix for some part of the training and competition....and almost no one believed that was possible. Others, who had gone, didn't believe it when I told them there was a way to help them offset costs. So I waited and waited, and one person finally said, "Ma'am, I would like to go;" Aida Maravilla Orta.

I'd say that of all of the folks I proposed believing in the possibility, Aida might have the biggest challenge getting resources for her entire family to attend and compete. But she was in.

So I created a board-break-a-thon fundraiser and explained to her what to do. She immediately set her goal low....she just didn't believe other people would support her to the extent she needed. I told her she needed to state how much she needed clearly, let people know, and not let doubt get in the way.

The result? SO MANY PEOPLE SUPPORTED HER that she almost reached her goal. The rest came in on loan from another source. SHE DID IT!

Her entire family went. They made new friends. Found more families like them out there competing. They were overwhelmed by how big and fun it was. The icing on the cake was Aida and her two daughters, Hafsa and Aida, ALL COMPETED AND GOT MEDALS!

So remember Eternal Grand Master every day and make your Today Not Possible, Possible Tomorrow!

🥋 The days you least feel like showing up are often the days you need it most.

One class can change your mindset, boost your confidence, and remind you why you started in the first place.

Keep showing up. Your future self will thank you. 💪✨

First time View of ATA World Championships.....Check out Aida's story here:

The 2026 Worlds experience was an incredible introduction to ATA Taekwondo competitions. It was our very first time competing, and it gave us the opportunity to experience the competition rings, the atmosphere, and everything that comes with such a special event. I’m so happy that each of us was able to bring home a beautiful medal.

The moment we will cherish the most was meeting Presiding Grand Master M.K. Lee. He gave us a special coin and shared part of his own journey. He told us that when he first started competing, he lost many times, but he was grateful that he survived. His message was that we are not truly competing against other people—we are competing against ourselves by learning to control our emotions and always doing our very best. It was a deeply emotional moment, and I felt incredibly fortunate that my girls were there to hear such inspiring life advice from him.

One of my favorite parts of the tournament was experiencing it together as a family and meeting so many other families who share the same passion for Taekwondo. It was wonderful to see such a strong and supportive community who share the same values and passion.

Before competing, I was nervous. I worried that my forms wouldn’t be good enough or that I would get badly beaten during sparring. Instead, I discovered that I was capable of much more than I expected, and I’m truly grateful that I had the courage to participate.

Watching so many talented competitors inspired me to continue learning, improving my skills, and dedicating myself even more to my ATA journey. This tournament strengthened my passion for Taekwondo and reminded me that personal victory comes from growth, perseverance, and the willingness to challenge yourself. It motivated me to keep striving to become a better martial artist and a better person to ultimately be a great instructor.

Finally, I want to sincerely thank Ma’am Morrison for encouraging me, believing in me, and believing in our family. Her support gave us the confidence to be part of this amazing experience. I look forward to continuing to learn from her and to growing alongside my family in the true spirit of Taekwondo.
