How it feels to wait under intense lighting when you have undiagnosed BVD… 😵‍💫💡 Bright lights, visual motion, people walking around, and nowhere for your eyes to rest can make something as simple as waiting feel exhausting. For some people with binocular vision dysfunction, these visually demanding environments may trigger eye strain, dizziness, headaches, nausea, brain fog, or that overwhelmed feeling. If this sounds familiar, a standard 20/20 eye exam may not tell the whole story. Consider getting evaluated for BVD by a provider who specifically tests binocular vision.

POV: My patient describing how he constantly feels like he is in a dream, everything around him looks unreal, and he feels like he is floating through space instead of grounded in his surroundings… For some patients, symptoms of depersonalization and derealization can overlap with visual problems caused by binocular vision dysfunction (BVD). When the eyes are struggling to work together properly, the brain may be constantly trying to compensate for unstable or conflicting visual information. That can contribute to symptoms like dizziness, disorientation, visual overwhelm, motion sensitivity, anxiety, and that strange “nothing feels real” sensation. If you experience persistent DPDR along with visual symptoms, consider having your binocular vision evaluated by a specialist.

One of those moments that makes my day 🥹 My patient just told me that since getting her prescription prism lenses, she stopped losing her place while reading AND her depth perception issues while driving improved right away. When the eyes finally work together the way they are supposed to, everyday tasks can feel completely different. 👓✨ If you have 20/20 vision but struggle with reading, driving, depth perception, headaches, dizziness, or eye strain, consider getting evaluated for binocular vision dysfunction. 📍 Vivid Visions Optometry, Valencia, CA 🔗 Schedule a BVD evaluation through the link in bio.

2016: Eye doctors told me I had 20/20 vision and did not need glasses. Meanwhile, I was struggling with driving anxiety, and my BVD had been missed by every eye doctor I had seen. In 2016, I prescribed myself prism lenses to correct my binocular vision misalignment. 2026: I have now been driving for almost 10 years without that anxiety. Those prism lenses changed my life. They are also a huge reason I became so passionate about helping other people with BVD find answers beyond the 20/20 eye chart. 20/20 vision does not always mean your eyes are working perfectly together. If you have 20/20 vision but still struggle with driving anxiety, dizziness, headaches, motion sensitivity, or visual discomfort, consider being evaluated for binocular vision dysfunction by a specialist. Schedule a BVD evaluation with our office or book a virtual consultation through the link in our bio.

Our doctor passionately explaining the life-changing moment patients experience when they try their prescription prism lenses for the first time. 👓✨ For some, it is the first time their vision feels calmer, more comfortable, and more stable. That reaction never gets old.

Our doctor shares his own journey with prism lenses and how correcting his binocular vision changed the way he sees and experiences the world. 👓 From visual strain and motion sensitivity to better comfort, focus, and confidence, his personal experience is a big reason he is so passionate about helping others with BVD today. Sometimes 20/20 vision does not tell the whole story.

POV: You at the club with undiagnosed BVD getting overwhelmed by the lights, music, movement, and people… Meanwhile, your friend is in your prism sunglasses having the time of his life because his visual system isn’t working overtime just to keep everything aligned. 😎🕺 For some people with binocular vision dysfunction, busy environments can trigger light sensitivity, motion sensitivity, dizziness, headaches, nausea, or sensory overload. Prism lenses may help reduce visual stress when eye misalignment is part of the problem. If clubs, concerts, supermarkets, or other busy environments make you feel strangely overwhelmed, consider getting your binocular vision checked.

Me testing my eye teaming skills after 10 years of wearing prism glasses 👀💪 Using a prism bar to test my divergence at near: how much my eyes can adjust outward while keeping a close target single.

09/08/2026

Your eyes have to adjust focus as things move! 👀⚽ As the swinging ball moves away, the demand on your focusing system decreases. As it comes closer, that demand increases to keep it clear. Your eyes also adjust how much they turn inward to keep the ball single. An exercise in coordinating focus, eye teaming, and tracking! 🙌
