Day 4 of camp was such fun! 🧑🏽🍳
Thanksgiving dinner themed – cauliflower mash (substitute for mashed potatoes) 🥔
lightened up pumpkin pie (with protein powder, flaxseed, and very low sugar)🥧
Mini Turkey chocolate pretzel sticks (where I reminded the students sugar is part of life and it’s very important to exercise moderation as they learn to make healthy choices for themselves)💪🏽
And Turkey-shaped meat and cheese appetizer platter (that looks so festive served at a holiday gathering…. Also a fun activity to make with family & friends around the holidays!) 🦃
Nutrition activities ~ healthy lifestyle sign language to teach vocabulary ✅
healthy habits bingo to review what the concepts/vocabulary looks like in everyday life (for example, moving your body every day, drink half your body weight in ounces of water, the function of protein in the body, etc.)✅
“Eat a rainbow” craft to remind them the importance of eating fresh fruits and vegetables, and the function of each color of fruit/veggies (“phytonutrients” plant nutrients- they glued the colored definition next to the color of fruit)✅
Washing dishes, vacuuming, wiping up messes, playing in the music room, trampoline, water play, football, foosball & lots of fun together!✨
Grateful to teach these engaged students & looking forward to day 5: Christmas-themed last day! 😉
