It’s time to reclaim our sovereignty. Many of us have directly experienced post-traumatic-slavery-disorder and its effects within our families, our community, and our society. It is time to break these cycles. Let us pull the root that is so deeply embedded.

It starts within your choices. May you choose wisely for you and who comes after you. Where there is anger there is pain and may that pain be forgiven. Where there is grief there is love and may that love be expressed. It starts within. Make within safe.🤍🌻

It’s time to reclaim our sovereignty. These cycles stop with us. So many of us have first hand experienced post-traumatic-slavery disorder and the effects within our family, the effects within the community, and the effects within our society.

Ritual is the foundation of everything we do as people. Some of us may feel that we’ve forgotten or too far gone but even brushing your teeth daily is a ritual. See, not that complicated.

As womban of African/Aboriginal descent these rituals appear different over the diaspora but they are the foundation of who we are as people. Even if you don’t think you have one or yours doesn’t look like mine, it’s something that’s important to the soul. It plants seeds.

What is something you can do for yourself daily that honors you, your ancestors, and/or the person you wish to become. What is your family/tribe/culture/religious ritual for a womban giving birth. What will make that action sacred for you? I encourage mom’s to find out if they haven’t already. 🖤

A birth worker and medicine womban for womben like me, of any age, of any pain, and of any african-aboriginal descent. A healer doing the healing. A student and a teacher. As children we stretched all the time. I remember watching TV and practicing the splits or some kind of backbend. Friends would come over and it was a competition of who could contort their body into the craziest shape. We were so flexible as children; physically, mentally, and spiritually.

Fast forward to today and I’m grown up and I have to make the effort to stretch my body. Its hard to breathe through certain poses because my body has grown accustom to tension and stagnation. I want so badly for my body now to feel as free and lose as it did 10 years ago. Most of us want that wether we know it or not.

While pregnant it is imperative to stretch your body. Do yoga everyday. Practice breath work. Our body needs us to be as flexible as possible especially while pregnant and during labor. It’s very difficult to surrender during discomfort when you have never done that but its the very thing required when giving birth to nu life.
