A new study found that people who have had a heart attack, but who are considered low risk for other cardiovascular complications, may be able to safely discontinue beta-blocker use after at least one year.
“Every medication adds complexity, including a greater potential for interactions or side effects over time. In patients who no longer have a clear ongoing indication, in this case no heart failure, no ongoing angina or arrhythmia, being able to step back from a medication is good cardiology practice.” Rigved Tadwalkar, MD
