Officially one year teaching at this month! 🎉

When we moved to LB, this place was already on our radar — somewhere we wanted to train and hopefully teach. Grateful to for making the intro, and to , , and for the guidance as I keep building.

I had a super busy week last week teaching, so I am taking today off from yapping. But, I wanted to share a little recap of the weekend.

In addition to teaching a yoga flow, and my Arm Balance Fundamentals Workshop, I worked with Teacher Trainees on the art and science of arm-balancing. We measured our Ape Index, and learned about leverage, our anatomical levers and how our bodies can best approach going upside down.

We covered the essentials of being prepared for arm-balancing–a strong core, mobility for shoulders and wrists, open hips, and how to form bio mechanical bridges from the shapes we know our goal shapes of crow, forearm stand, and handstand.

Since half the group were a part of SoHo Yoga Teacher Trainees, we also focused on how to assist safely and modify these shapes for our students.

In a couple weeks, I’ll be teaching my arm-balance fundamentals workshop at in Hermosa Beach, CA

Who this workshop for: If arm-balances are new to you or something you’re just starting to play with, this workshop will help you put the pieces together to evolve your current skills.

Why take this workshop: In your typical yoga class, you may spend only 5-7 minutes working on arm-balances. In this 2-hour workshop will help you discover biomechanical bridges between shapes you already know, and the arm-balances you want to learn and develop.

What will we do in the workshop: We will identify our fears, our strengths, and how our unique anatomy can approach arm-balances. We will practice exercises to build strength and mobility in the wrists, shoulders, core and legs. Several arm-balances will be explored and how we can use props like the wall, blocks, bands, and each other for support and skill evolving.
