Today we honor the quiet, steady work of midwives across the world.

Midwives are there in the in-between spaces… holding hands in the dark, listening closely, trusting deeply in the rhythm of birth. We are trained in the normal, prepared for the unexpected, and rooted in protecting the sacred transition into motherhood.

This work is not just clinical, it’s relational. It’s built on trust, continuity, and the belief that women deserve to feel safe, seen, and supported as they bring life into the world.

From village homes to birth centers to family living rooms, midwives continue to stand beside women… guarding physiology, offering wisdom, and stepping in with skill when needed.

To the midwives walking this path with heart and integrity, and to the families who choose this kind of care, today we celebrate you.

Happy International Day of the Midwife 🤍

“Birth is not neat and fast. It’s gritty and primal. But it’s nothing to fear. Unless you also think we should fear women crying when they are sad or laughing when they are happy… If we stop viewing birth as an emergency—it’s not—then we can stop imposing anxiety on women about birth.”
— Mayim Bialik

Birth isn’t meant to look polished.
It’s not quiet, controlled, or predictable.

It’s raw.
It’s powerful.
It’s deeply human.

Somewhere along the way, we started treating this normal, physiological process like an emergency waiting to happen—and women feel that.

They carry it into their pregnancies.
Into their decisions.
Into their bodies.

But birth isn’t something to fear.

It’s something to understand.
To prepare for.
To be supported through.

And when we shift the lens—from fear to trust—everything changes.

Midwife life… quality control edition.

Double -checking our scales to make sure they’re all reading accurately. A simple trick is using something with a known weight. In this case, a 10 lb sack of flour.

We weighed it on every scale we use for babies and equipment to make sure everything matches up.

Tiny details matter in birth work. When we say a baby weighs something, we want to know it’s right.

It’s one of the many little things happening behind the scenes to keep our practice dialed in.
