🍎 October’s was all about the old ways of preserving food!
We picked fresh apples right from the trees on the property and turned them into homemade applesauce using an old-fashioned pressure cooker. We explored the magic of pressure canning versus water bath canning, and discovered that sometimes a little trial and error makes the process even more fun! 🍂
These workshops were born from a personal passion and a belief that we, as women, have a responsibility to keep the old ways alive. 🌿
Making our own medicine. Preserving the harvest. Learning to work with the seasons. These are skills that were once passed down from grandmother to mother to daughter, woven into the fabric of everyday life.
Somewhere along the way, in our fast-paced world of convenience, we’ve begun to lose touch with this knowledge.
We’re gathering once a month, all year long, to change that. To learn from one another, get our hands dirty, share stories, and reclaim the beautiful, practical wisdom of generations before us. I send gratitude to my mama, Sharisse Cabrera and her mother, for passing down these ways to me so that I can share with others, including my daughters
🫙 Next month: Fermentation & Pickling! We’ll explore the basics of these traditional food-preservation methods and continue building our skills together.
Come learn, connect, and carry the old ways forward with us. We’d love to have you!
