I painted this little rock years ago, and it still makes me smile. 🦔🌵
“She really needed a hug from someone who understood her.” And there she is hugging a cactus.
Because if we’re being honest, I think that’s how life works. The people who understand us best usually have a few pokey parts of their own. They’ve known disappointment. They’ve had their heart bruised, and they’ve learned how to protect the tender places.
As bodyworkers, we see this every day. Beneath the armor, the tension, the guarded shoulders and careful smiles, there is usually someone just wanting to feel seen and understood.
Maybe that’s why kindness matters so much.
We end up recognizing something familiar in each other. Two souls, both a little weathered by life, finding a way to connect anyway.
Sometimes the best hug comes from someone who knows exactly what it feels like to have weathered the storm.
