Please stop “cracking” your own neck. 😩
A quick "pop" can feel satisfying (for a split second), but repeatedly forcing your neck to move may irritate the joints and surrounding tissues without addressing what’s actually causing the stiffness.
The cervical spine is a delicate and important part of the body. It supports your head, protects the spinal cord, and works closely with the nerves, muscles, joints, and blood vessels throughout the neck.
Forcefully twisting or “cracking” your neck can temporarily mask the reason it feels tight and may lead to an ongoing cycle of feeling like you need to crack it again. In rare cases, extreme or forceful neck movement has also been associated with more serious injury.
That quick release isn’t the same as identifying which part of the cervical spine may not be moving properly... or understanding why you keep feeling the urge to adjust it.
In our office, we evaluate the spine before making any recommendations. The goal isn’t to create as much sound as possible. It’s to understand what’s happening and provide specific care based on what your body actually needs.👏🏼🩻
