How I Became a Mother: On February 10, 1987, I became a mother for the first time. The interesting part is that I wasn’t even there! While my daughter, Annie, was being born I had no idea it was even happening. In fact, it was my birthday, too. I was sipping champagne and having lunch with girlfriends at the old Plaza Restaurant on Longboat Key. We received a call at 4:30 that afternoon and were at the hospital the next morning at 8:30 to meet our new daughter!
