🐾 Meet Finn — COPE's Therapy Dog! 💙💚

Finn is a 6-year-old Golden Retriever and a very special member of the COPE family. As a trained, certified, and insured therapy dog, he spends much of his time alongside his handler, Dr. Kim LaCivita, supporting students in local charter schools.

Whether he's offering a calming presence during a stressful moment, helping children feel safe and connected, or simply bringing smiles to everyone around him, Finn has a remarkable gift for making every child feel seen, supported, and loved.

And if you've ever met Finn, you know one thing for sure...he never says no to a hug! 🐾💙

At COPE, we know that healing and hope come in many forms. Sometimes, they come with four paws, a wagging tail, and an endless supply of unconditional love.

💙 Meet the Amazing Team Behind COPE 💙

At the Center of Psychotherapy & Evaluation (COPE), our mission of Empowering Families, Embracing Potential begins with compassionate professionals who are deeply invested in the children and families they serve.

Today, we'd love to introduce you to Dr. Kimberly LaCivita, one of our outstanding school psychologists.

A Sarasota native, licensed school psychologist, and proud member of the COPE team, Dr. Kim has dedicated her career to helping children discover their strengths and helping families navigate challenges with confidence and hope.

As she prepares to begin her 10th year at Student Leadership Academy, Dr. Kim continues to make a lasting impact on students, educators, and families throughout our community. Her collaborative, strengths-based approach empowers children to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.

Her deep roots in Sarasota, extensive experience in education and child development, and genuine passion for supporting local youth make her an invaluable part of the COPE family.

When Dr. Tara Files-Hall founded the Center of Psychotherapy & Evaluation (COPE) in 2004, she had a vision: to create a place where individuals and families could find compassionate care, hope, and support.

Today, 22 years later, that vision continues to thrive as COPE proudly serves families across Florida's Gulf Coast with a commitment to helping every child reach their fullest potential.

Dr. Files-Hall's dedication extends beyond the walls of COPE. For the past 20 years, she has also been the dedicated school psychologist of the Sarasota School of Arts & Sciences (SSAS) family, where she has invested in the lives of countless students and families through education, advocacy, and mentorship.

Her passion has always remained the same:�💙 Supporting children.�💙 Strengthening families.�💙 Building a healthier community.

As COPE is honored to be a finalist for Best Mental Health Practice in Sarasota Magazine's Best of Sarasota 2026, we celebrate not only this recognition but also the thousands of lives that have been touched over the past two decades.
