EMDR changed how trauma therapy works, and it still does, for a lot of people. But it's not the only option anymore.

There's no fixed number of sessions with ART, some people notice a shift after one, others need more, depending on what they're carrying. Your therapist stays in the room with you the whole time. You're never asked to narrate the memory to make progress.

Curious whether it's the right fit? Let's set up a free consultation with zero obligation.

Here's the part that surprises people about ART: you don't have to describe what happened out loud.

A lot of people avoid trauma therapy because they picture sitting across from someone, walking through the worst day of their life in detail. ART doesn't work that way. You stay in control of what you share, and the eye movements do a lot of the processing your words don't have to.

If your body still reacts like it's not safe, even when you are, that's not something you have to just manage forever. We're here when you're ready to talk about it.

You're in the car after another rough outing with your kid. And the same thought that's been living in your mind comes back as you drive home: I’m doing this all wrong.

If you're raising a neurodivergent kid with ADHD, autism, sensory differences, or a mix that never quite fits one label, you've probably had that exact moment.

But the things is: most parenting advice out there wasn't written with your family in mind.

We wrote an article about what's actually going on in those hard moments, the guilt that builds up quietly over time, and a shift in mindset that changes how the tough days feel.

It's not about fixing your child. They're not broken. It's about understanding them, and giving yourself a little more grace along the way.

If getting to an appointment has become its own source of stress, online therapy might be worth a second look. Melissa works with clients online herself, so she knows firsthand that support doesn't lose anything by meeting you where you already are.

She works mostly with teens and young adults navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, and the harder question of who they are, often through art, music, mindfulness, and CBT, whatever helps someone actually open up.

Same real connection, same real progress. Just without the drive. It works. And it fits into a life that's already full.

It's okay if you couldn't do all of this on your own; that’s normal. Patterns are hard to see from the inside. A good therapist can help bring out the right perspective. That's really the whole point of therapy: someone in your corner who notices what you can't, and helps you actually follow through.

If this sounds like where you're at, we'd love to help you find the right fit.

You take the walk. You come back twenty minutes later. And you're still not really listening, you're just waiting for your turn.

That's the part most couples miss. A pause only resets you if you actually let it, not if you spend the whole walk rehearsing what you're going to say next.

Coming back calmer isn't about who left the room first. It's a slower voice. A softer start. Being curious about what they're feeling instead of ready to defend yourself.

That's what we actually work on with couples in session, not just when to pause, but how to come back so it doesn't turn into round two.

We're here when you're ready.

We're so glad to introduce the newest member of our team: Jenn Lenker, MS, LMFT.

Jenn is a Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist who works with adults navigating trauma, anxiety, grief, relationship struggles, and questions of faith. If you've ever put off reaching out because you didn't have it all figured out yet, she's exactly the kind of warm, easy-to-talk-to person who makes that first step feel a little less heavy.

Her style is warm, collaborative, and practical, and she's now accepting new clients, both in person here in Saratoga Springs and virtually across Utah.

We were honored to have the news featured by ABC4. Read it here: https://www.abc4.com/business/press-releases/ein-presswire/928606121/redwood-family-therapy-welcomes-jenn-lenker-ms-lmft-to-its-growing-saratoga-springs-team/

Welcome to the team, Jenn.

At home or at work, you're the one everyone counts on.

Steady. Easy to be around. Never the problem.

So nobody asks how you're actually doing, because it doesn't occur to them that they need to.

High-functioning just means you've gotten good at holding it together where people can see you.

You can carry a lot and still be running on empty. Those aren't opposites.

If this sounds familiar, know that seeking support doesn't mean you've failed at holding it together. It's a sign of strength and growth.

The hardest part is often the not knowing. Is this just a rough season, or something that needs more than waiting it out?

That question alone can keep people stuck for months, sometimes years, second-guessing what they're feeling instead of getting an answer.

We wrote out the fuller picture on our blog, what "normal" anxiety actually looks like, the signs it's turned into something more, and what tends to help. If you want the whole read: https://redwoodfamilytherapy.com/how-do-i-know-if-my-anxiety-is-normal-or-something-more/
