🏃 Cleared to play. But are they really ready?

That's a question every coach and parent should be asking after an athlete comes back from an injury.

Fife Therapy, a longtime sponsor of the Prep Sports Report, is expanding with Savannah Sports Medicine — bringing sports performance, injury prevention, biomechanical testing and return-to-sport evaluation together for Savannah-area athletes.

What can the numbers tell you that the eye can't?

A concussion is not a “rest and wait” injury.

After a head injury, early evaluation and treatment matter. We use Vestibular First goggles to assess visual and vestibular function, identify symptoms early, and establish a baseline for recovery.

Early treatment gives us the opportunity to identify deficits, address symptoms, and create an individualized plan for recovery and return to sport.

If an athlete takes a hit to the head, don’t wait for symptoms to “go away.” Get them evaluated. Start treatment. Get them back to doing what they love—safely.

Your rehab should look like the demands of your sport.

With Senaptec 3D, we challenge athletes to scan a dynamic environment, track multiple moving objects, actively recall visual information, and make rapid decisions.

It’s not just about seeing the play. It’s about processing it, deciding, and producing the right response.

That’s what sport-specific performance training looks like.

Does your return-to-sport program look like this?

Your rehab should include the tools and training to prepare you for the demands of your sport — cutting, deceleration, reaction, and change of direction.

Don’t just rehab to feel better. Rehab to compete.

If your sports medicine clinic doesn’t look like a lab, then you’re in the wrong place. 🧠🏃‍♀️

A concussion isn’t something you should simply “wait out” before getting back on the field.

Returning to sport should be objective, progressive, and individualized.

At Savannah Sports Medicine, we use the RightEye to assess and track eye movements throughout concussion recovery, giving us objective data to help monitor progress and guide return-to-sport decisions.

Because getting an athlete back to their sport isn’t just about feeling better — it’s about making sure they’re ready.

🏆 Return with confidence

Your brain deserves the same level of testing and performance training as the rest of your body.

Don’t let an injury force you to lose the strength you’ve worked so hard to build. 💪

Blood Flow Restriction (BFR) training is an evidence-based rehabilitation tool that uses a specialized cuff to safely limit blood flow during exercise. By pairing the cuff with light resistance, your muscles receive a stimulus similar to heavy strength training—without the added joint stress.

Why athletes use BFR:
✔️ Maintain muscle during injury recovery
✔️ Build strength with lighter loads
✔️ Minimize muscle atrophy after surgery
✔️ Return to training sooner and stronger
✔️ Bridge the gap between rehab and performance

At Savannah Sports Medicine, we use BFR to help athletes recover with confidence, preserve strength, and get back to doing what they love—without rushing the healing process.

📩 Curious if BFR is right for you? Reach out to schedule a sports assessment or physical therapy evaluation.

Returning to sport is about more than healing an injury. It’s about preparing your body for the demands of competition. 💪

For this collegiate pole vaulter, every exercise has a purpose:
✔️ Rebuilding shoulder strength
✔️ Restoring dynamic stability
✔️ Improving reaction time and body control
✔️ Preparing for the explosive demands of pole vault

Being cleared to play doesn’t always mean you’re ready to perform.

Our goal is to bridge the gap between rehab and competition so athletes return with confidence—not hesitation.

If you’re recovering from an injury, don’t just aim to get back. Aim to come back stronger.

📩 Reach out to schedule a sports assessment or return-to-sport evaluation and give yourself the best chance to perform at your highest level.
