Your spine works hard every day, and when something isn’t quite right, even small changes can have a big impact on how you move and feel.

Here are 5 common spine problems you may have heard about:

🔹 Bulging Disc – When a spinal disc extends beyond its normal space, sometimes placing pressure on nearby nerves.

🔹 Spondylolisthesis – When one vertebra slips forward in relation to the vertebra below it, potentially causing back pain or nerve symptoms.

🔹 Degenerative Disc Disease – Age and everyday wear can cause spinal discs to lose height and flexibility, which may contribute to pain and stiffness.

🔹 Herniated Disc – When the inner material of a disc pushes through its outer layer, potentially irritating or compressing nearby nerves.

🔹 Degenerative Disc with Osteophytes – Changes in the spine can lead to the development of osteophytes, commonly called bone spurs, which may contribute to narrowing around the spinal cord or nerves.

Not every spine problem requires surgery. Understanding what’s causing your symptoms is the first step toward finding the right treatment plan.

Our team specializes in diagnosing and treating conditions of the spine and nervous system, with care tailored to each patient.

Neurosurgery is about more than major brain surgery. 🧠

For many patients, neurosurgical care means finding relief from the neck, back, spine, and nerve conditions that can make everyday life harder — from walking comfortably and staying active to simply enjoying the things you love.

Whether treating a complex brain condition or helping someone find answers for persistent neck, back, or nerve symptoms, the goal is the same: helping patients get back to living their lives.

Living with back or neck pain can make even the simplest moments feel difficult.

The good news? Surgery isn't the answer for everyone, and you don't have to navigate your options alone.

If you're experiencing persistent pain, weakness, numbness, or changes in balance, don't wait to be evaluated. Early diagnosis can make a meaningful difference.

At Neurosurgical & Spine Institute, we're honored to provide compassionate, expert spine care close to home.

That's why compassionate care matters just as much as clinical expertise. We're honored that families trust Dr. Thompson to walk beside them through diagnosis, treatment, and recovery.

Thank you, Cassidy, for allowing us to be part of your family's story.
