Fox & Weeks has played a role in the Savannah community for more than 140 years, and we remain honored to be asked to help our friends and neighbors during some of life's most challenging episodes. This photograph was taken in 1908 during the funeral procession for Marius DeRosa, an Italian riding mechanic who was tragically killed during practice for the inaugural Savannah Grand Prize race in Savannah. After the accident, DeRosa’s funeral was held at the Cathedral of St. John the Baptist, and his casket was carried through the city on the actual race car involved in the crash. It's believed to have been one of the earliest and possibly the first motorized funeral procession in Georgia. We share this photo to provide a reminder that Fox & Weeks has always been privileged to be part of the history of our wonderful city, and we are grateful for the opportunity to continue playing that role through service to the families who trust us. Since 1882 - we will be here when you need us.
