Join us tomorrow from 1:00–3:00 PM at Living Independence for Everyone (LIFE), Inc. (4811 Waters Avenue, Savannah, GA 31404) for "Opening Doors: Celebrating 36 Years of the Americans with Disabilities Act."

This celebration brings together people with disabilities, families, advocates, service providers, and community members to recognize the impact of the ADA while connecting attendees with valuable resources throughout our community.

We're especially grateful for LIFE, which has been an incredible resource for many of our Speak Easy members. Their commitment to promoting independence and connecting individuals with the support they need has made a meaningful difference in the lives of stroke and brain injury survivors in our community.

LIFE's Savannah office is fully accessible, and an American Sign Language (ASL) interpreter will be available throughout the event.

It’s not just rocket launches and death metal concerts that can damage your hearing! 👂

A recent BBC article, “Once It’s Gone, It’s Gone: How to Future-Proof Your Hearing,” reminds us that many everyday activities can contribute to hearing loss over time.

Here are a few simple ways to protect your hearing:

🎵 At concerts: Wear high-fidelity earplugs. They reduce the volume without sacrificing the quality of the music.

🎧 With headphones or earbuds: Keep the volume low enough that you can still hear someone speaking next to you. If they have to shout, it’s too loud.

🌿 Using lawn equipment: Weedwhackers, leaf blowers, and mowers are louder than you may realize. For the best protection, wear earplugs and earmuffs.

Hearing loss often develops gradually—and once it’s happens, it’s usually permanent. The good news? Many cases are preventable with simple habits and regular hearing checks.

Not sure how your hearing is doing? Schedule a hearing screening with Savannah Speech & Hearing Center. Early detection can make all the difference. Call us at (912) 355-4601 to make an appointment or learn more about our hearing services.

☀️ Happy Friday! It’s shaping up to be a hot weekend, so maybe beat the heat by staying inside and pulling out a favorite board game!

Board games are a great way to help children learn, grow, and thrive. Children practice taking turns, following directions, problem-solving, flexible thinking, fine motor coordination, visual perception, and emotional regulation—all important areas that occupational therapists help develop through play.

Stay cool, play together, and enjoy making memories this weekend! ❤️
