It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Fred Thorn Clayton Jr., who left this world on Saturday, August 8th, 2026, at the age of 66. Fred was a beloved husband, colleague, and friend, who will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Fred was born on Friday, September 18th, 1959, in Fairmont, West Virginia, to the late Fred Thorn Clayton Sr. and Eleanor Euvonne. He was a man of unwavering dedication and passion, traits he carried from his early days in Fairmont to his long and esteemed career at Boeing Aerospace in Savannah, Georgia. Fred spent a lifetime devoted to the field of aircraft parts manufacturing, where his expertise, innovative spirit, and attention to detail left an indelible mark on colleagues and industry advancements alike.

Fred was a resident of Savannah, Georgia, where he shared a loving and joyful life with his cherished spouse, Linda Carol Clayton. Their partnership was a testament to love and commitment, standing as a foundation of strength and inspiration for all who knew them.

Fred's life will be celebrated through arrangements provided by Families First Funeral Care & Cremation Center. As we remember him, we celebrate a life well-lived, full of achievement, boundless love, and unwavering integrity.

He is survived by his devoted wife, Linda Carol Clayton; sons, Timothy, Charlie, and Christopher; and stepsons; Casey Parish, Charles Langston, and Douglas Parker Jr.;

Fred was preceded in death by his parents, Fred Thorn Clayton Sr. and Eleanor Yvonne; and Ricky and Timothy Clayton who he now joins in eternal rest.

Fred's legacy will endure through the many lives he touched, both personally and professionally. We find comfort in the memories shared, the lives enriched, and the love he so generously gave.

Brenda Jean Yancey, cherished mother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 28th, 2026, in her beloved hometown of Savannah, Georgia. She was 60 years old. Born on Tuesday, April 26th, 1966, Brenda brought warmth and kindness to all who knew her.

A lifelong resident of Savannah, Brenda was the devoted daughter of the late Robert Lee and Betty. She was preceded in death by her loving parents, who instilled in her a sense of resilience and compassion that defined her character.

Brenda dedicated much of her professional life to her role as a secretary, where she was known for her meticulous attention to detail and her unwavering commitment to her work. Her colleagues often remarked on her ability to bring a sense of calm and order to a busy office environment.

Outside of work, Brenda had a passion for gardening and could often be found tending to her garden, where her vibrant blooms reflected the beauty she sought to cultivate in her community and within her personal life. Her garden was a haven for many, much like Brenda herself.

She is survived by her husband James Timmy Yancey; her son, Timothy Shawn Yancey; her daughter and best friend, Rebecca "Becky" (David) Marchant; her grandchildren that she adored; and her 8 beloved kitties.

Brenda will be fondly remembered by her family and friends for her unwavering loyalty, infectious laughter, and her ability to lend an empathetic ear. Brenda's grace, strength, and warmth were testaments to a life well-lived in service to others.

In honoring her wishes, a private celebration of life will be held at a later date, where family and close friends will gather to remember the love and joy Brenda brought into their lives.

Mary Sue Cobb (“Susie”), 70, went home to be with the Lord on August 15, 2026.

Born in Claxton, Georgia, she was preceded in death by her parents, Wilbur and Callie O’Neal, as well as her brother Stephen O’Neal. She graduated from Savannah High School in 1974. Sue was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She retired from Armstrong State University in 2016. In retirement, she loved attending events at the Savannah Theatre with family and friends. Some of her favorite activities were shopping and getting coffee. She also loved spending time with her two granddaughters.

Sue is survived by her husband, Wesley Cobb Jr. of Savannah, Georgia; son and daughter in-law, Chris and Kristy Cobb and granddaughters, Bailey and Sadie Cobb of Woodstock, Georgia, sister, Carolyn Peevy of Elberton, Georgia, sister and brother-in-law, Tom and Brenda Ortner of Sandersville, Georgia, and Glenda Johnson of Clarksville, Tennessee.

Services to be handled by Families First Funeral Care.

Nils Robert Egerstrand passed away peacefully in Savannah, Georgia, on Saturday August 8th 2026.

His life passions were playing the bass, skiing and his cat Marri. He attended Malcolm Shabazz High School in Madison, WI. After receiving his Bachelors degree from University of WI Oshkosh, he returned to Madison for a few years. At that time he performed in the Dubuque Symphony in Iowa and a number of blue grass groups including The Himalayan Boys and The Hardly Brothers, in Madison, WI. From Madison, he moved to Asheville, North Carolina where he performed in numerous blue grass groups and a few area symphonies as well as the Asheville Symphony as the principal bassist, music librarian and stage manager. While in Asheville he met the love of his life and eventually moved to Savannah Georgia. In Savannah he performed bluegrass gigs and in shows at the Savannah Theater and some area symphonies including the Beaufort Symphony. In Savannah he did a stint of driving for the Ghost tours and the bicycle taxi in his spare time. He was looking forward to playing in the new season with the Beaufort Symphony. His current project was digitizing years of performances that he had on cassettes and transcribing music arrangements of special pieces for his friends to play, He loved animals and on his daily walk he would greet all the neighborhood dogs.

He will be missed.

Lemuel "Slim" Johnson Sr. was born on June 28, 1949 to the late Corine Johnson Allen and Willie Reason Sr. in Girard, Georgia.

Lemuel was educated in Screven and Chatham County School system. He was intelligent, loving and hardworking young man who began working at an early age. Lemuel dedicated approximately 30 years of his life to working for the City of Savannah where he retired early.

At an early age, Lemuel accepted Christ into his life. Even throughout his illness, he continued to live an amazing life. His strength, courage, and determination were inspirations to those around him.

On August 1, 2026 the Lord called Lemuel home to rest.

Although his time with us was far too short, Lemuel touched the lives of many people. He will forever be remembered for his laughter, his personality, his strength, and the memories he created with the people who loved him.

Lemuel was proceeded in death by his parents Corine Johnson Allen and Willie Reasons Sr.; one brother, Phillip Allen Sr.; five sisters, Carleen Allen Lemon, Betty Jean Allen, Patricia Thomas, Pearl Johnson Page, and Margaret Adkins; and a very loving companion, Gloria Sessoms.

He leaves to cherish four sons Lemuel Johnson Jr., Timothy Weaver, Kenneth (Patricia) Sessoms, and Jevaris Roundtree; two daughters, Vicky Bryan, and Tyshara (Jeromy) Beasley; 13 grands, LeMonekaa Johnson, Ikeayah Johnson, Docquize Roberson, Deonjalai Frazier, Khilee Johnson, London Johnson, Lemuel Johnson III, Leighton Johnson, Carlos Roundtree, Curtis Jr., Alontae Rountree, Destiny Roundtree, Kia Bryant; three great grands; and 1 god child, Shannel Cooper; six sisters, Mary Nell Allen, Angela (Donnie) Allen, Lavone Allen, all of Savannah, Georgia; Arneda (Norman) Patteson, Barbara Reason, both of Sylvania, Georgia, Bonnie (Henry) Reason, of Guyton, Georgia; seven brothers, Eugene Allen, Earl (Sharon) Allen, and Alphonso (Dorethea) Thomas, all of Savannah Georgia, Willie Reason Jr., Joseph (Andrea) Reason, Rob (Barbara) Reason, all of Sylvania, Georgia; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends that will truly miss him.

Debra Ann "Debbie" Woodcock-Dovich, 60, passed away July 6, 2026, after a brief illness. Debbie was born, raised, and lived the majority of her life in Savannah, Georgia, as well as Oklahoma, Germany, and Maryland.

A 1983 graduate of Savannah High School , Debbie spent 40 years in the restaurant industry, including many years with Spanky's Westside. She never met a stranger. If you were lucky enough to become her friend, you became family. She had a quick wit, infectious sense of humor, and uncanny ability to induce giggles and belly laughs.

Debbie found peace on Tybee Island, joy from anything purple and sparkly, and cherished a great pair of shoes. She opened her heart to all animals that crossed her path.She loved being a mother, and being "Mimi" to her grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Gordon and Louise Woodcock, and her partner, Danny Sikes.

She is survived by her daughters, Tiffanie (Kyle) and Kaci (Jen); her beloved grandchildren, Joey, Phoenix, Gryphon, and Weiryn; also many family members and lifelong friends who will miss her deeply.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice Savannah or to a local animal rescue in Debbie's honor.

Kelly Robert Harbaugh, 63, of Savannah, died July 30, 2026, in Savannah. He was born Aug. 1, 1962, in Greenville, South Carolina.

Kelly was a 1980 graduate of Sol C. Johnson High School. He loved his family, his music and the NFL’s Raiders.

He is survived by his loving family, Sharon Powell, Andrew, Nicole and Tori; his sisters, Starla H. Thurlow (Ken), Rhonda E. Treu (Brad), Valerie K. Conway (Chris) and Tonda H. Malone (George); and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, George Robert Harbaugh, in 1988; his mother, Sherry Jeanne Price, in 1996; and his brother, Rodney Scott Harbaugh, in 1997.

Kelly’s family celebrated his life privately.

Beverly Jean Wadowiec, a resident of Pooler, GA, passed away on Monday, July 27, 2026 at the age of 73. She was born on October 6, 1952, in Syracuse, NY, to Korleen (Booth) and Griffith Williams. Bev’s life and enduring spirit are marked by her unwavering love for family and close friends.

Bev grew up in Phoenix, NY, where she lived for most of her life before moving to the Savannah area. She graduated from Phoenix Central Schools in 1970 and later worked for the school district when her daughters were young. She then worked for and retired from Fulton Savings Bank. In the summer, she spent weekends with friends and relatives at the family camp on Lake Bonaparte, NY. When the weather turned colder, she enjoyed weekly bowling leagues, making stained glass art, and taking occasional trips to Turning Stone Casino.

Beverly is predeceased by her sister, Sharon Roberts, and partner of 18 years, Dwight (Tom) Reed.

She is survived by two daughters, Jaime Wadowiec and Lindsay (Douglas) Seamans; three sisters, Catherine Goretsky, JoAnn (Ed) Smart, and Janet Bentley; one niece and three nephews; and one grandson; all of whom she adored.

The family will plan a Celebration of Life later this fall.

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of James Gregory Miller, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, friend, and dedicated craftsman. James was born on March 19, 1963, in Ga***rd, Michigan, and passed away peacefully at his home in Guyton, Georgia, on July 27, 2026, at the age of 63.

James, affectionately known as Jim to his family and friends, was preceded in death by his father, James J. Miller, and his younger brother, Scott Miller. He is survived by his wife, Pam; his daughter, Samantha; his mother, Gwendolyn Miller; his sister, Laura Bulson; his twin brother, Mark Miller; and his grandchildren.

A carpenter by trade, Jim dedicated 22 years of his life to Effingham County Habitat for Humanity. Through his work, he helped build homes from the ground up and remodeled existing houses for families throughout the community. He took great pride in using his skills to create safe, lasting homes and improve the lives of others. His work was more than a profession; it was a meaningful contribution to the community he called home.

Jim’s legacy can be seen not only in the many homes he helped build and restore, but also in the lives of the people he met along the way. He will be remembered as a hardworking man of integrity and kindness who was always willing to lend a helping hand.

His love for his family and friends was unwavering, and his presence will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

May his family find comfort in knowing that Jim’s memory will live on in the hearts of those he loved, throughout the community he served, and in the many homes that still stand because of his dedication and skilled hands.

He will be forever remembered, deeply missed, and lovingly cherished.

A memorial service is planned for 3:00 PM, Sunday, August 9, 2026 at New Hope Christian Church, 2550 Courthouse Road Guyton, GA 31312.

Kenneth S. Sajwan

Kenneth S. Sajwan, passed away peacefully on Monday, June 29, 2026, at the age of 77. He was a beloved father, husband, esteemed university professor, environmental scientist and cherished member of the Savannah and CSRA (Coastal Savannah River Area) communities.

Kenneth (Kundan) was born in the village of Ghingari, India surrounded by the picturesque Himalayan mountains. Kenneth (Kundan) was the eldest son of the late Dhan S. and Parvati D. Sajwan.

Kenneth rose, with determination and tenacity, from humble beginnings to become an internationally respected environmental scientist, educator, and mentor.

Kenneth received numerous national and international awards for teaching, mentoring and research in environmental science. Just a few included the White House US Presidential Award for Excellence in Science, Mathematics, and Engineering Mentoring (2010) and the Distinguished Alumni Award from Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur (2014), and American Chemical Society Fellow (2017).

Yet, overall, Ken’s greatest “awards” to his remarkable life were his own children, as well as, the students he taught and mentored throughout his 34 years of service as Professor and Coordinator of the Environmental Science Program at Savannah State University.

Kenneth’s passion for teaching and research, his unwavering commitment to his students, along with his boundless energy and unshakable spirit, left an incredible mark on the countless lives he touched throughout his distinguishing career as a university professor.

Kenneth is survived by his loving children Maria Elizabeth and Joseph Daniel Sajwan, along with his devoted wife of 42 years Maria B. Sajwan.

“Doc’s” legacy of wisdom, kindness, an enduring commitment to the pursuit of knowledge, along with an invincible spirit of perseverance shall endure. His numerous contributions to academia and his community will, likewise, be remembered and cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Kenneth S. Sajwan will, indeed, be deeply missed. Yet, his extraordinary life will forever be an inspiration, a testament to the power of an indomitable and courageous spirit that will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.

A Celebration of Life Service is tentatively planned for later this year.
