Hay season is here, and while freshly cut fields are a sign of summer in our community, they can also bring a wave of allergy symptoms for many people.
When hay is cut and baled, pollen, dust, and other airborne particles are released into the air, triggering sneezing, itchy eyes, congestion, coughing, and other hay fever symptoms. If you find yourself reaching for tissues every time you pass a freshly mowed field, you're not alone.
A few ways to reduce exposure:
🌾 Keep windows closed during and after hay cutting
🌾 Shower and change clothes after spending time outdoors
🌾 Use air conditioning and replace air filters regularly
🌾 Monitor local pollen counts
🌾 Talk to your healthcare provider about allergy treatment options
Don't let seasonal allergies keep you from enjoying the summer months. If your symptoms are affecting your daily life, our healthcare team is here to help you breathe easier.
