Dr. Ashmed Vázquez graduated Magna Cum Laude with a degree in Science from the University of Puerto Rico, Mayaguez Campus in 1978. Then he received his doctor of medicine degree from the University of Puerto Rico School of Medicine in 1982. Dr. Vázquez completed his internship and residency at Tripler Army Medical Center in Honolulu, Hawaii, while serving in the United States Army. During his military service, Dr. Vázquez held the position of Assistant Chief and Acting Chief of OB/GYN at the U.S. Army Hospital in Nuremberg, Germany. He continued his service as Attending Staff at Martin Army Community Hospital in Fort Benning, Georgia until he was honorably discharged with the rank of Major in 1990. In 1990 Dr. Vázquez came to Savannah, Georgia to join Southside OB/GYN, PC. He served as Vice Chairman of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Memorial Health University Medical Center in 1997-1998 and as Department Chairman in 1999-2000. On December 23, 2013 he started his solo practice as ASHMED VAZQUEZ MD, PC in Savannah, Georgia. Dr. Vázquez is on active staff at Memorial Health University Medical Center and St. Joseph's / Candler. He is certified by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology. Dr. Vázquez utilizes medical continued education updates to keep informed of new developments in women’s healthcare. He is a recognized doctor on HealthGrades honor roll. He is also a Fellow of the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology and a member of the Georgia Obstetrical and Gynecological Society. Dr. Vázquez is fluent in English and Spanish.
