As parents, it’s easy to find ourselves thinking, “Why is my kid like this?!” One teen and one soon-to-be teen over here, and some days I’m just holding on for the ride!

But sometimes, taking a step back and reminding ourselves, Oh wait… this is actually pretty normal, can put things into perspective.

The mood swings. The independence. The big feelings. The need for space one minute and connection the next. It’s all part of growing up!

Parenting teens isn’t always easy, but we don’t have to get it perfect. We’re all just doing the best we can. 🤍

Take a breath. Give yourself some grace. And remember, you’re not alone. We are in this together!

After slow summer days, jumping back into routines can feel like a lot. The goal isn’t to go from 0 to 100, it’s to ease back in and help kids feel prepared, supported, and confident.

A little preparation now can make the transition feel much smoother for the whole family.

A new school year brings excitement, but it can also bring big feelings, uncertainty, and worry for both kids and parents.

Therapy doesn’t have to be a last resort. Sometimes, having a safe space to talk, build coping skills, and better understand emotions before things feel overwhelming can make a meaningful difference.

Being proactive about your child’s mental health is a healthy part of parenting. 💚

Today was one of those beautiful reminders to slow down, breathe, and be. We had the most beautiful sound healing and guided meditation at Gillette Park, with perfect weather and an even better energy.

Gina and Rosa worked so beautifully together, feeding off one another and creating a truly calming and grounding experience.

These are the same types of mindfulness, nervous-system regulation, meditation, and grounding practices that we can incorporate into therapy sessions at Mind Body Counseling.

If you’re someone who wants to try something a little different, therapy that looks beyond simply talking, we invite you to come experience it for yourself.

🍂 We’ll be offering more outdoor wellness sessions this fall. Stay tuned for dates!

At Mind Body Counseling, we believe therapy is about more than just talking.

It’s about understanding your thoughts, emotions, and what your body is telling you.

To get the most out of your sessions:

Come curious about what you’re experiencing mentally and physically.

Be honest, even when it feels uncomfortable.

Notice patterns, triggers, and sensations between sessions.

Be open to getting out of your head and into your body.

Practice the tools you learn outside of the therapy room.

Give yourself space to slow down, breathe, move, and reconnect.

Therapy is a place to talk, but it can also be a place to feel, process, regulate, and reconnect.

You don’t have to have it all figured out. You just have to show up mind + body. 🤍

Fun fact: many therapists go to therapy, too. Because growth, self-awareness, and emotional health are lifelong practices.
Therapy isn’t only for times of crisis. Think of it as a workout for your mind and body, a space to build self-awareness, understand your patterns, regulate your nervous system, and create growth.

You don’t have to wait until something feels “wrong” to start taking care of yourself.

I’m Danielle Poore, LMHC, founder of Mind Body Counseling.

My practice is rooted in the belief that therapy is about more than just talking. We integrate traditional therapy with mindfulness, somatic practices, and nervous-system regulation to help you feel more connected to both your mind and body.

We value continuity of care and partner with PMHNPs that also value a holistic approach within the practice to support coordinated, comprehensive treatment. Our team works with children, teens, adults, couples, and families, creating a supportive space where you can feel heard, understood, and empowered to grow.

Mind Body Counseling is currently accepting new clients.
