In a new Anesthesiology study, researchers assessed nociceptive processing after resolution of a nerve block in order to shed light on the cause of so-called “rebound” pain.

The researchers used a single-injection axillary brachial plexus block in healthy volunteers to detect whether a previously blocked arm displayed objective hypersensitivity in the absence of surgical pain.
