It is Back to School time which means kids are no longer putting us adults to be lol. Which means time to reset their internal clock.
My daughter falls asleep because of melatonin. However she wakes up as though I had given her a tranquilizer.
Melatonin puts her to sleep, however when it wears off, she wakes up tired and very sluggish. For us, we use Magnesium Glycinate at bed time instead of Melatonin. When taking magnesium glycinate, there isn't the "hang-over" from the melatonin after waking up the next day.
No, Magnesium isn't a magic sleep pill. There are limited studies about how magnesium can help kids sleep and everyone's body reacts to supplements differently. Also, Melatonin is a hormone not some sort of a safe bedtime vitamin and I am not comfortable giving it to my child each night (again personal preference).
The best way to give your kid good sleep habits comes first.
Always consult with your child's Pediatrician prior to starting a new supplement. This is not medical advice.
