As we wind down Mental Health Awareness Month, we want to share a few quick tips about how to prioritize your mental health:

1. Take a walk. Even if it’s just for 10 minutes, the fresh air and movement can do wonders for your mind.

2. Create a healthy sleep pattern. One way to do this is by cutting off screen time an hour before bed (you have our full permission!).

3. Journal about small things that make you happy. Maybe it’s reading a book with a cup of tea. Perhaps it’s having a fun chat on the phone with a good friend. When you write down these little things, you can reflect on how they bring you joy.

There are so many other ways you can prioritize your mental state, but we see these as a good start.

Let's hear it for Keri Moszer, our BRAVO award winner for May! Keri joined the Brookdale team in January 2024 as a wellness specialist, and she quickly grew to be a favorite staff member of our patients.

Keri earned this award because she is truly interested, passionate and devoted to everyone at our center. Keri's energy is almost visible around her — she has helped people feel open, optimistic, happy and relaxed.

One little known fact about Keri is that she takes the time to convert her lectures into Polish, Spanish and Chinese languages for those patients with a language barrier. This is just one out of the many ways she makes patients at Brookdale feel seen.

We are excited to share our April BRAVO winner: Nicolle Nigri! This was a unique presentation for us at Brookdale as Nicolle is part of our utilization review team and works in Florida. Being in a different state did not deter us from recognizing the outstanding work she does on behalf of our team. Here's what the nominating committee had to say about Nicolle:

Nicolle truly represents what it means to be a great team player. She shows up every day with a positive attitude, always ready to step in and support wherever she is needed and takes real pride in her work.

Brookdale knows how to kick off a new season! Last week, the team celebrated several fun events including the first day of spring, International Day of Happiness and a new favorite holiday: Red Nose Day! Red Nose Day is meant to be a celebration of comedy, community and compassion, all things that help the healing process.
