Today, Highlands EMS team had the opportunity to participate in advanced trauma training led by our ER Medical Director-Dr. Mark Christensen, focusing on two critical, life-saving procedures: finger thoracotomy and ventilator management for patients with traumatic chest injuries.

Hands-on training like this strengthens the knowledge, confidence, and skills our providers need to deliver the highest level of care in high-acuity, time-sensitive emergencies. While these procedures are rarely needed, being prepared to perform them when every second counts can make a significant difference in patient outcomes.

A sincere thank you to Dr. Christensen for investing time and expertise in the continued education of our crews and for supporting excellence in prehospital emergency medicine.
