Thanks for keeping an eye on them. 😂 Of course, they don’t really need it.

We’re grateful for a team that’s wonderful at what they do and always willing to have a little fun along the way.

What sounds like a passing comment may actually be an attempt to connect.

“Look at this.”
“Guess what happened.”
“Can we talk?”

The Gottman Institute calls these bids for connection: small moments when we reach for someone’s attention, interest, affection, or support.

We won’t recognize every bid, and we won’t always respond perfectly. Sometimes, connection begins simply by pausing, showing interest, or returning to the conversation when we have more space to listen.

Healing may not always feel like healing.

Sometimes it feels like guilt after setting a boundary, discomfort when someone offers help, or emotions getting louder because you finally stopped pushing them away.

Noticing, choosing, and trying something different all count as progress. Each small step can help you build greater trust in yourself.

“How was your day?” can be a surprisingly difficult question to answer. But a thoughtful question may help someone know where to begin.

More specific questions can make it easier for children, teens, and adults to pause, reflect, and share something meaningful. Try choosing one, listening with curiosity, and allowing the conversation to unfold without pressure.

Celebrating 4 Years with Stephanie Nilsen, Ph.D., LPC! 🎉

Stephanie began her career in early childhood education, with a focus on early intervention and special education. She went on to earn two master’s degrees and a Doctorate in Infant and Early Childhood Development, with extensive training in mental health, developmental disorders, and trauma.

Stephanie believes relationships are the foundation for facing life’s challenges. Her experience, compassion, and strong advocacy guide her work with children, teens, adults, and families.

A natural leader, Stephanie brings compassion, quick wit, and a wonderfully unique personality to Team Claibourne. We are so grateful for everything she has contributed over the past four years. Please join us in celebrating her! 💚

What looks like “overthinking” may actually be mental review, a type of mental compulsion in OCD.

It can involve replaying conversations, searching for certainty, or questioning whether you did something wrong. OCD often targets what matters most, including relationships, family, faith, and personal values.

Mental review and reassurance seeking may bring temporary relief, but they can reinforce the OCD cycle. Intrusive thoughts do not define your character, intentions, or values.
