Using themes is one of my go-to "work smarter, not harder" approaches for speech and language intervention. The idea is simple: choose vocabulary and activities that are thematically related to provide meaningful, connected contexts for learning.

When we teach vocabulary this way, we're working with the way our brains naturally learn and organize language, making learning more efficient and meaningful. One of my favorite parts? You can easily pair thematic vocabulary with other evidence-based approaches (like narrative language intervention!) to make your therapy work even harder for you.
