There’s a kind of pain that opens you up to the magical 🧙 and mystical 🧙‍♂️realms. If you’re lucky, the sky will send you a sign that you’re exactly where you’re meant to be. This solar halo stayed with me for hours as I inched towards breaking an intergenerational curse. My ancestors supported me in an ancient cosmological language. May you connect to yours through the wind, sky, water, earth, and whatever other ways let you know you are exactly where you are meant to be.

Cover Me In Sunshine
Pink & Willow Sage Hart Lyrics - thank you for this gift of a song P!NK

”I'v’ been dreaming of friendly faces
I'v’ got so much time to kill
Just imagine people laughing
I know some day we will

And even if it's’far away
Get me through another day

Cover me in sunshine
Shower me with good times
Tell me that the world's’been spinning since the beginning
And everything will be alright
Cover me in sunshine

From a distance all these mountains
Are just some tiny hills
Wildflowers, they keep living
While they'r’ just standing still

I'v’ been missing yesterday
But what if there's’a better place

Cover me in sunshine
Shower me with good times
Tell me that the world's’been spinning since the beginning
And everything will be alright
Cover me in sunshine
Shower me with good times
Tell me that the world's’been spinning since the beginning
And everything will be alright
Cover me in sunshine

La la la la
La la la la

Cover me in sunshine
Shower me with good times
Tell me that the world’s been spinning since the beginning
And everything will be alright
Cover me in sunshine

Decolonizing in practice. I was taught to straighten my hair, and my family gave me a western name which research shows leads people to get more job interviews. I have the luxury of working for myself and doing what I want with my life, which is part of why I let go of my old name and now go by Iziz. I hope my patients, colleagues, friends, and our world gets to connect to their roots, their creativity, and express themselves as they wish! Lukango! Anti-Blackness is so intense and ubiquitous that Indigenous Egyptians don’t know how to braid their hair anymore as we see on our temple walls. We must end white supremacy and may all decolonize remembering that we are all one with our Mother Earth 🌍

To those in Iran, Palestine, the Gulf, and the Northern Hemisphere. Nawroz Mubarak, Eid Mubarak, and Happy Spring Equinox. We hold you in our hearts today.

We won't pretend this is an easy season to celebrate. The region is carrying profound grief, and the destruction visited upon peoples, lands, air, water, and ecosystems feels relentless. We mourn alongside you as climate destruction affects us all with every bomb dropped.

To those in the Southern Hemisphere entering the Autumn Equinox today, may your season of turning inward, of release and reflection, support us all during this collective grief.

Across both hemispheres, this is when light and dark hold equal weight. We sit with the tension of honoring life and grieving loss at the same time. That is not a contradiction, it may be the most human thing we can do.

May those suffering find moments of genuine rest. May those fighting for justice find each other. May the earth remind us what resilience, healing, and connection actually are from a decolonial lens. May future generations coming inherit a new world with peace and stability.

With love and solidarity,

Amanda Malak, PsyD

Qusay - 1 year old

I don’t know this child, but I know they deserve to live in safety and with dignity. This child is one of the 2.38 million Palestinian children who have the right to a future.

The occupied Gaza Strip is now recognized as the deadliest place on earth to be a child. An average of 28 children are killed each day in Gaza, while in the West Bank a record number of children have been killed by Israeli forces or settlers since January 2023.

We march together behind three clear demands:

- Stop killing, harming and starving Palestinian children
- Lift the blockade on Gaza
- End Israel’s occupation that the ICJ has declared unlawful

As a mental health clinician in the U.S. who is also a mandated reporter with a duty to report harm to vulnerable peoples, I will reiterate the need for a and a 🇵🇸 as we approach the 2nd anniversary of this genocide.

I'm a clinical psychologist based in Arizona [on the ancestral lands of the Xalychidom Piipash and Akimel O’Odham peoples] and I treat people around the United States and in some other countries. I am here today to talk about the free therapeutic effects of protests. There are a lot of protests happening here, and there have been for many years. I know it can be scary for some, and of course, you need to discern your safety. For those who choose to protest, some of the benefits include art. Lots of people create signs, sometimes at protests but also at home, so it is an art therapy intervention. Also, lots of people listen to music and dance or chant; that’s music therapy, singing, right, also forms of art therapy. Also, marching, marching in and of itself, and singing, they are somatic releases of energy. Marching, especially in community, is powerful. I just really wanted to highlight this as I know some of these marches seem useless to people. Many people got arrested at Black Lives Matter Protests, [many were arrested during the Standing Rock protests], and now during Pro-Palestine protests. The most recent Hands Off Protests have been mostly White, so they are not as policed, and that is really hurtful for some people. No matter what, I hope you are safe out there and if you feel called, get out there and enjoy protests because it is therapeutic at the end of the day.
