This OCD Awareness Week, I post for the people who haven’t made it to a therapist’s office yet.

On average it takes 14–17 years for someone to receive the correct diagnosis. This is heartbreaking!

💭 To the ones who think their thoughts mean something terrible about them.

🌀 To the ones doing rituals in secret and smiling through it.

🔁 We as OCD therapists, get to watch people realize this has a name, it’s treatable, and they’re not broken.

🌱 That’s what OCD awareness means to me: reaching people sooner. 🤍

💜 Had a totally rad night at the 80s prom supporting Jana’s Campaign! 🪩✨
Jana’s Campaign is a national nonprofit working to reduce relationship-based violence 🙌 It honors the late Jana Mackey and other victims and survivors through education programs that prevent domestic and dating violence, sexual violence, and stalking 📚💪
Their work reaches middle and high schools 🏫, colleges 🎓, and communities across the country 🌎 They’ve now reached more than 100,000 K-12 students with prevention education 🎉
Big hair, bigger hearts 💖 Thank you to everyone who danced, donated, and showed up for this cause 🕺💃

Failure isn’t proof of who you are. It’s proof you tried. That shift alone rewires how your brain handles risk. 🧠

Most of us treat failure like a verdict like it’s confirming something we already suspected about ourselves. But your brain doesn’t actually work that way.

Every time you try something and it doesn’t go perfectly, you’re not collecting evidence of incompetence. You’re collecting data. 📊

The people who get comfortable with risk aren’t the ones who fail less. They’re the ones who stopped making failure mean something about their worth. 💛

That one mental shift from “this proves I can’t” to “this is just information” is what makes trying again possible. 🔁
So the next time something doesn’t work out, try asking: what did this teach me, instead of what does this say about me. 🌱

Waiting to feel ready is the trap. Ready is a feeling anxiety was never going to give you. Move first, and allow confidence to follow. 🌞

You don’t need to feel calm to take the next step you just need to take it. Confidence isn’t the starting line, it’s what shows up after you’ve already moved. 💛

So if you’re waiting for the anxiety to quiet down before you try, apply, speak up, or start this is your sign that it might not, and that’s okay. Go anyway. 🚶‍♀️✨

What’s one thing you’ve been waiting to feel ready for? 👇

🌱Growth is finally crying
for the version of you
who was just trying to survive
OCD, one ritual at a time.🌱

⛅️And somewhere in those tears,
you start to believe
you can LIVE differently.☀️

🗣️ Say it out loud: “I have OCD” 👏

Accepting your OCD diagnosis is a beautiful milestone in healing ✨, one that takes time and hard work 💪.

After 10 years specializing in OCD, nothing brings more joy than watching clients go from the trenches 🪖 to finally finding acceptance 🌱
