Julie Rake Integrative Medicine

Julie Rake Integrative Medicine It is a real movement and in essence the goal is restoring the focus of medicine onto health and healing and away from disease and mere symptom management.

People often ask, “What is Integrative Medicine (IM)?” The short answer is that IM is the intelligent combination of traditional conventional medicine combined with evidenced based complimentary and alternative treatments. To me IM means a lot more. The IM practitioner embodies health, is a steward of healing and a curator of wholeness. We commit to exemplify the lifestyle we recommend. Whether

the patient needs assistance in the arenas of mind, body or spirit, the provider is adept at partnering with and providing care in any and all of these domains. Today we have excellent practitioners of conventional medicine who manage chronic disease processes and are skilled at critical care. However, we are in crisis in unprecedented ways. Brene Brown, Doctor of Social Science, reminds us “We are the most in debt, addicted and obese adult cohort in American history.” We are in desperate need of practitioners proficient in healing the moral and spiritual wounds that drive damaging behaviors. We need providers practiced at untying the knots and neural pathways that drive negative, damaging and repetitive thinking. We need healers who can assist with personal transformation in exceptional ways raising awareness and expanding consciousness. Finally, we need agents of courage willing to step into the lives of another, to empathically take the journey together. Since antiquity, the role of healer was to lead people out of the darkness of infirmary into the light of health. Having faced our own injuries and illnesses on our own healing journey, we are familiar with the path. In the words of the great teacher Pema Chodron “Only when we know our own darkness well can we be present with the darkness of others.” The journey into healing is best supported when travelled with a skillful, compassionate and ethical leader to carry the lantern. Integrative Medicine is the vessel through which I attempt to assist in revitalizing and invigorating suspended and infirm lives.

When the world brings its rage, judgment, and fear, you can almost feel it trying to harden you.

But softness is the mightiest force. 🪷 The quiet persistence of a mountain river carves canyons over centuries. Trees that bend during the mightiest storms survive. 🌾

The softest thing alive will one day overcome the hardest. It’s a kind of strength that lets you bend without snapping, flow without freezing, and love without crumbling.

It’s easy to become enraged, to blame, and to judge. It’s easy to be cynical. It’s easy to give up. Brene Brown reminds us, “to hold on to joy and love and hope in these times—that is courage.”

Breathe deep. Flow with what is.🎋
Let the current of life carry you. 🌊
Trust. 🍃 Have a Thankful Thursday! 💚

One of the most meaningful parts of this TEDx experience was having people I love there to support me. 🫶🎤❤️

Healing is never a journey we take entirely alone. 🌱✨

Behind every moment of growth, courage, and transformation are often the people who believed in us when we struggled to believe in ourselves. 💫🤍

A few weeks ago a majestic Red Tailed Hawk landed on the tree branch right outside my office window! It was amazing! 🦅 It likely had its sights on the quail & their baby chicks that are abundant right now.

The Red Tailed Hawk has also crossed your path today. Here is the spiritual significance:
* Clear Vision & Focus: Hawks have the best eyesight in the animal kingdom. Seeing one serves as a prompt to pay attention to your surroundings, look past surface-level details, and see the "bigger picture" of your life.
* Messenger of Spirit: Hawks are regarded as sacred messengers. A sighting is interpreted as a prompt to stay resilient, and draw on your vitality during periods of growth.
* Soaring High: Encourages you to rise above your current struggles, take a wider perspective, and look at your circumstances from a higher, more objective vantage point. Have a Terrific Tuesday!! 🦅🖤

GRILLED PEACH & PESTO FLATBREAD
INGREDIENTS:
* 4-6 Homemade or store bought flatbreads
* 3 large peaches, ripe
* Store bought or homemade pesto.
* 1 pint cherry tomatoes
* 1 tbsp olive oil
* 1/2 tsp sea salt
* 1 cup shredded mozzarella
INSTRUCTIONS:
* Preheat oven to 400F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Rinse the cherry tomatoes, then place them onto the baking sheet. Toss with olive oil & sea salt, and place into the oven to roast for 15-20 minutes, or until bursted and blistered. Remove from oven & set aside.
* Slice peaches to be about 1/2″ thick slices. Heat a grill plate with olive oil on medium-high heat. Once hot, place the peaches onto the grill plate and allow them to cook for 3-5 minutes, or until caramelized and grill marks appear. Then flip and cook for an additional 2-3 minutes on the opposite side. Once cooked, remove the peaches with tongs and set aside on a plate for assembly.
* Toast flatbreads to crisp slightly. If making flatbreads refer to original recipe.
* To assemble the flatbreads, spread about 1 tbsp. of pesto onto each flatbread, followed by a few roasted cherry tomatoes, mozzarella cheese, and peaches.
* Place flatbreads onto a parchment paper lined baking sheet and bake flatbreads in the 400F heated oven for 10 minutes.
* Remove the flatbreads, slice, and serve warm. Recipe by, “The Banana Diaries.”

Good news to get the week started! 🗞️.

After losing his wife & nearly everything else, 88-year-old Army veteran Ed Bambas was working a Michigan checkout to survive. His pension & healthcare vanished when GM went bankrupt.

An Australian creator heard his story and shared it. The post reached millions, and strangers raised $1.77 million—giving Ed the peaceful retirement he deserves.

In a world that often feels divided, moments like these show the power of collective kindness, and that generosity has no borders. Here’s your proof that humanity still has a very big heart. 💟
