When we admit a patient onto hospice services, one of the questions we ask is, "What are the Three Most Important Things we need to know about you to provide the best care?" The answers have been everything from calling them by their childhood nickname to a wish to be reunited with a family member. No matter what they are, we make a note and plan to honor one of these Three Most Important Things (TMITs) on each visit.

Please join us in congratulating Jacob Brandon, South Carolina Regional Trainer, on his new role with NHC as the Clinical Informatics Analyst!

In his new role, Jacob will serve as a key liaison between clinical operations and technology regarding HCHB.

Jacob has been a part of Caris Healthcare since 2016 and has served as the SC Regional Trainer since 2023. He has truly been an asset to our South Carolina team by providing training to new RNs, in-person coaching, and working behind the scenes to assist with workflow for many offices. Jacob will transition to his new role in early August.

Every great mission has a starting point. The story of Caris Healthcare starts with Norman and Linda McRae and their vision to revolutionize how hospice care is delivered. Their goal was simple yet profound: to provide "Care with Grace" through a specialized, patient-centered approach.

In 2021, Caris began an exciting new chapter by joining National HealthCare Corporation (NHC). This partnership allowed us to maintain our unique Caris culture while leveraging the resources of a leader in senior care. Walking Through "The Long Goodbye" Together 💜🌅

Today, June 21st, is the Summer Solstice—the longest day of the year. In the healthcare and caregiver community, it holds a deeper meaning. It is a day dedicated to Alzheimer’s awareness, recognizing the strength it takes to navigate a disease often called "The Long Goodbye."

Caring for a family member with Alzheimer's or dementia is a profound, exhausting journey. But you don't have to carry it alone. Alzheimer's care is a team sport, and when you reach a point where you need extra hands, the Caris Healthcare hospice team is ready to join yours.

From specialized nurses and compassionate aides to chaplains and social workers, we wrap our arms around the entire family—managing symptoms, answering midnight questions, and offering the emotional relief you deserve. Please join us in congratulating Melissa Neese on her promotion to Senior Caris Representative!

Since joining our team in May 2022, Melissa has served as a leader in our Anderson office conducting New Employee Orientation and in-services within her NHC partners’ accounts, and public organizations. Melissa has been a stalwart associate for her fellow South Carolina Rep team, often serving as a mentor for new representatives. In addition to her work within Caris, Melissa has also served as Co-chair for the Upstate Senior Network in 2024, President of Upstate Senior Network in 2025, and is an active participant in the Alzheimer’s Walk Committee. As a result of her and her team’s contributions, our Anderson office has grown from serving 21 to 40 patients and their families.

It's graduation season here at Caris Healthcare!

Please join us in congratulating Samantha Jefferson, new Administrator of our Memphis office, Vickie Hallaian, Administrator of our Clinton office, and Keelee Sherrer, new Administrator of our Anderson, SC office in completing their week at Caris University.

We spent last week diving deep into Caris' best practices in operations, finance, human resources, and sales & marketing. Thank you for your time and attention. We look forward to see all that you accomplish in support of our patients, families, and teams.

We believe that who completes the visit or where the patient resides should never dictate the quality of care received. By standardizing our approach, we ensure that every family experiences the same "Care with Grace" that has become the hallmark of Caris Healthcare.
