When it’s time to decide, families often fall into speeches, defensiveness, and re-litigating the whole process. A cleaner approach is holding a decision meeting with rules. Restate the criteria you agreed on at the start. Review each option using the same single-page format. Invite each sibling to share two strengths and one concern per option, then move on. If consensus stalls, return to the criteria and ask which option meets the non-negotiables with the least risk. Structure doesn’t remove emotion; it prevents emotion from hijacking the process. This is how families choose well and stay close.
