Big news in women’s health: PCOS officially has a new name, PMOS (Polyendocrine Metabolic Ovarian Syndrome), and it’s a major step forward in recognizing what this condition really is.
PMOS affects more than 1 in 8 women worldwide and goes far beyond ovarian cysts. It can impact hormones, metabolism, fertility, weight, skin, mental health, cardiovascular health, and more.
Symptoms may include:
• Irregular or missing periods
• Acne or excess facial hair
• Scalp hair thinning
• Weight gain or insulin resistance
• Infertility
• Anxiety or depression
And more importantly, you do NOT need ovarian cysts to have PMOS.
The new name better reflects the full-body impact of this condition and helps open the door to greater awareness, improved diagnosis, and better treatment options.
