Mental Reframing

Mental reframing is the practice of looking at a situation from a different, more balanced perspective. It doesn’t mean ignoring difficult emotions or pretending everything is positive — it means challenging unhelpful thoughts and creating space for a healthier mindset. 🌿
Instead of:
❌ “I failed, so I’m not good enough.”
Try:
💭 “This was difficult, but I can learn and grow from it.”
Instead of:
❌ “Everything is going wrong.”
Try:
💭 “I’m having a hard moment, not a hard life.”
The way we speak to ourselves matters. Small shifts in thinking can help reduce stress, build resilience, and improve emotional well-being over time.

If you’re caught in a loop of blame, excuses, and frustration, the path to change isn't found by looking backward—it’s found in the choices you make today.
Enter: The WDEP Model. This core tool from Reality Therapy gives you a step-by-step roadmap to move from "tangled" to "purposeful."

How to use it:
WANTS (W): What do you actually want? Get specific about your goals for your relationships, career, or self.
DOING (D): What are you doing right now to get there? Focus on your actions and direction, not just your feelings.
EVALUATION (E): The Big Question: "Is what you're doing getting you what YOU WANT?" If the answer is no, it’s time to pivot.
PLAN (P): Create a SAMI plan! Your new path must be Simple, Attainable, Measurable, and Immediate.

DBTSkills : Distress Tolerance.
HALT is a preventive Distress Tolerance skill in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) used to reduce vulnerability to intense emotions and impulsivity.

It is an acronym for Hungry, Angry, Lonely, or Tired, acting as a self-check to address physical or emotional needs before reacting in a crisis.

H.A.L.T. (Hungry, Angry, Lonely, Tired) is primarily associated with Alcoholics Anonymous (AA).

DBT Therapists sometimes informally incorporate it into DBT because it fits well with DBT concepts like:

Emotion regulation

Reducing vulnerability to emotional dysregulation

Self-care and body awareness.
