This month, we are pleased to congratulate Kevin Martinell as our June Employee of the Month. Kevin is
our Activities Assistant and is currently celebrating his 6th year! Kevin earned his BFA from Marywood
University in 2000. Kevin’s faith plays an important role in his life; in elementary school he was a six-time
first prize winner of the “Keep Christ in Christmas” poster contest through the Diocese of Rockville
Centre, NY. He was also an alter server during much of his school years and is currently an usher on his
weekends off from work at Saint Veronica Catholic Church in Greentown, PA. In Kevin’s spare time, he
enjoys eating out at different restaurants and diners, posting about his outings on social media. When
with his family and girlfriend, Kevin enjoys watching both “Family Feud” and “Press Your Luck”
gameshows. When asked what Kevin’s favorite part of working at Marywood Heights, he said “putting a
smile on the resident’s faces and being a team player with the employees." Kevin’s advice for a new
employee would be to never give up; there will always be good days ahead and not to be afraid to ask
questions as there is always something to be thankful for. His goals for the future are to be a friend to
whomever needs one, be supportive of others, lend an ear to those who need someone to listen to
them and meet the client’s needs to the best of his ability. Kevin is most proud of his ability to make
others happy. Kevin, we’re so happy to have you as part of our team; thank you for all you do!

We had some very special visitors stop by today… BABY GOATS! 🐐💛
Our residents absolutely loved spending time cuddling, petting, and laughing with these adorable little guests. Their playful personalities brought so many smiles and filled our home with joy, laughter, and sweet memories.
A huge thank you Ashley from Buttin Head Farms and to everyone who helped make this fun visit possible. Days like today remind us that the smallest visitors can make the biggest impact! 🥰

Happy May Day!!! This month we are excited to recognize Sarann Fiscus as our May Employee of the Month!! Sarann is a receptionist and has been with us since July 2019 – almost 7 years. The receptionist position is extremely important as Sarann is the first person that families and visitors meet. She has an amazing way about herself that makes people comfortable and can put them at ease. Sarann studied and earned her B.S. in Education from East Stroudsburg University which gave her a wonderful career in education. Over the span of her career, Sarann had the opportunity to work across a variety of fields, including hospitality and retail. Sarann even took on the challenge of learning an entirely new field where she taught at a dental school, helping those that wanted to aspire in the dental field. Fun fact about Sarann – she was born on Valentine’s Day! She also loves trying new recipes, grilling year-round with her husband on the deck. Sarann is also an avid reader with a passion for her Irish roots. Sarann has one daughter that lives with her husband in Queens, NY and has always loved sharing a home with her husband of 39 years. When asked what advice she would give to a brand-new employee, Sarann’s answer is simply to be patient, be kind and always keep your sense of humor. Stressful days will come and you will not always have the answers, but remembering to step back and find something to laugh about will make all the difference in the world. Sarann, we are lucky to have you as part of our team and thank you for being amazing!

This month, we congratulate Terri Lamberti as our April Employee of the Month! Terri is an LPN (Licensed Practical Nurse) who is happily coming up on 2 years employed with Marywood Heights. Terri graduated from West Scranton High School and attended CTC where she earned her LPN. Her favorite part of working at Marywood Heights is being a part of the resident’s daily lives – especially listening to their stories. She also views her co-workers as a wonderful group of people from every department who work together as a family. Terri sees her most proud career accomplishment as being able to personally connect with the residents and their families. She sees herself staying with Marywood Heights long term and eventually going down to part time. What is Terri’s fun fact? She loves to decorate the floor for all the holidays with the staff and residents. When she’s not working, Terri enjoys camping, fishing and spending quality time with her children and grandchildren. Terri’s advice for a brand-new employee is simple: remember that this is the resident’s home and treat all as one would treat their own family. Thank you, Terri, for all you do!!!

As we welcome a new month, we are so excited to recognize Ellen Palumbo, a member of our Housekeeping department, as our March employee of the month! Ellen has been a member of the Marywood Heights family for a little over 2 years. Making it through the cold is tough, but Ellen is looking forward to the onset of spring and summer. Ellen is a diehard 49ers fan, and…fun fact! She was born on April Fool’s Day! Ellen has been married for over 40 years, has two wonderful children and a grandson who is getting ready to graduate with honors. She also had 2 dogs that drive her absolutely crazy! Ellen’s favorite part of working for Marywood Heights is being able to see the residents every day, hearing their stories from long ago – recognizing how they were and how that has made them into how they are today. Ellen’s looking forward to her retirement years, seeing her husband get well where she and her husband can take a vacation to someplace warm. She is most proud of how she cleans our resident's rooms. Ellan strives to take care of them no different than if they were her own close friend or family member. What advice would Ellen give a new hire? It seems overwhelming at first, but it gets easier with a good schedule and being able to do what you can do. Thank you, Ellen!
