Our deepest sympathies are with the Mitchell family as it was our privilege to have been able to provide comfort care for this proud Veteran, in his time of need.

🙏🏻🇺🇸Robert John Mitchell, 65, of Dallas, passed away peacefully at Allied Hospice Wilkes-Barre, Sunday, June 21st, 2026.

Born in Kingston on October 7, 1960, he was the son of the late Robert George Mitchell and Dorothy Lugar.

Bob attended Dallas High School and Wilkes-Barre Vo-Tech. Right out of high school, Bob joined the Marine Corps for 4 years. When returning home, he worked for Royer Foundry, Lynweld, Hadsall Excavating, R.N. Fitch, Baines, Falzones, H&K Group, and Cleveland Brothers Caterpillar Equipment. Bob helped his brother-in-law with Pigmeister catering after being forced to retire following a heart attack. In 2021, he helped his friends, Jim and Arlene on their farm.

Bob loved riding his motorcycle. He was an animal lover, enjoyed meeting new people, and talking to complete strangers. He would have a yard sale twice a year and just loved interacting with the people that came. He was a great storyteller, and all was true. He did the best Donald Duck impression. He loved hunting and coming in at the end of the day telling all about what he saw and sometimes what he missed.

Bob enjoyed making things with his hands, making beautiful wishing wells, birdhouses, wheelbarrows etc.; and he was glad family members were able to get a piece of his handy work. He even helped the Pigmeister build Roasters. He would drop whatever he was doing to help someone.

In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by his sister, Donna Mishanski.

He is survived by the love of his life, Peggy Cobleigh Mitchell, married for 39 years this August; sisters, Debbie (John) Reece, South Carolina; Pam (Reggie) Murrill, Georgia; Sharon, South Carolina; brothers, Jeff (Jennifer) and John (Teresa); and lots of nieces and nephews.

Bob is grateful for the compassionate care he received while in ICU Wilkes-Barre Genera Hospital and at Allied Hospice in Wilkes-Barre.

Funeral services will be held Friday, June 26th, at Noon at Harold C. Snowdon Funeral Home, Inc., 140 N. Main St., Shavertown. Interment will follow at Huntsville Cemetery and a Celebration of Life following that at his home by Pigmeister Catering. Friends may call Thursday from 5pm-7pm at the funeral home.

Our deepest sympathies are with the Pritchyk family.

🙏🏻Walter Pritchyk, Jr., a longtime resident of Falls, passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 18, 2026, at Allied Hospice in Scranton following a recent illness. He was 70 years old. He is survived by his beloved wife of 45 years, Marie (Dobrowolski) Pritchyk, whom he married on October 18, 1980. Together they built a life centered on family, faith, hard work, and service to others.

Born on December 4, 1955, in Old Forge, Walter was the son of the late Walter, Sr. and Eleanor (Horyczon) Pritchyk. A proud graduate of Old Forge High School’s Class of 1973, he continued his education at Mansfield University, earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science in 1977. Following college, Walter dedicated much of his professional career to public service through the Pennsylvania Department of Corrections, retiring from SCI Waymart. Never one to sit still, he later worked as a background investigator for CACI.

Walter believed strongly in giving back to the communities that meant so much to him. For decades, he was an active member of the Falls Lions Club, where he formed lasting friendships and was honored as a Lion of the Year. He generously volunteered his time at Seven Loaves Soup Kitchen in Tunkhannock and remained a faithful lifelong member of St. Michael’s Orthodox Church in Old Forge. Whether through organized service or simple acts of kindness, Walter was always willing to lend a hand and support those around him.

Outside of work and volunteerism, Walter found joy in life’s simple pleasures. He loved spending time fishing and enjoying the outdoors, and making memories with family and friends. For many years, he owned a home in North Wildwood, New Jersey, where he enjoyed the shore and worked at Morey’s Piers. Those who knew Walter will remember his steady presence, his willingness to help others, and the pride he took in being a husband, father, and friend.

Above all else, Walter’s greatest source of pride was his family. He is survived by his daughter, Attorney Emily Pritchyk, and her partner, Hayley Glah, of Bridgeport; his sister, Debbie (Pritchyk) Walls and her husband, Rev. Bob Walls, of Old Forge; his aunt, Sonia Buberniak of Uniondale; as well as numerous nephews, cousins, and extended family members. He shared a particularly close bond with his cousin, John Pritchyk of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, who was often regarded as the brother he never had. In addition to his parents, Walter was preceded in death by his twin daughters, Sarah Elizabeth and Jessica Sadie Pritchyk.

Walter’s family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the physicians, nurses, and staff of Allied Hospice for the compassionate care and support they provided throughout his illness.

Funeral services will be held Monday at 11:00 a.m. at St. Michael’s Orthodox Church, 512 Summer Street, Old Forge, with services celebrated by Walter’s cousin, Rev. David Shewczyk. Interment will follow in the parish cemetery. Family and friends may pay their respects at the church on Monday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service. Those attending are asked to proceed directly to the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Walter’s memory to the Falls Lions Club, P.O. Box 15, Falls, PA 18615.

Arrangements are under the care of the Thomas P. Kearney Funeral Home, Inc., Old Forge.
