I've been thinking a lot about one word lately:
Autonomy.
The ability to know your body. To listen to your body. To make choices for your body.
We spend years learning about the world around us, yet many of us are never taught to truly understand the body we live in every day.
Massage isn't about someone taking control of your body.
It's about creating a space where you stay in control.
A space where you're asked for consent. A space where your boundaries are respected. A space where your comfort, your goals, and your voice matter.
To me, massage is more than easing sore muscles.
It's an opportunity to reconnect with yourself—to notice what your body has been trying to tell you, to understand it a little better, and to remember that your body belongs to you.
Maybe that's why I love this work so much.
Because every session is a reminder that healing isn't something done to you. It's something you're invited to participate in.

🌿 Before I had words for it — I already knew.

🌿 Massage is a humble word for what it actually does.
Most people think relaxation. A luxury. A treat.
But let's talk about what's really happening on that table.
Swedish — Circulation, lymphatic flow, skin nourishment, nervous system reset. (The original full body tune-up.)
Deep Tissue — Muscles, ligaments, tendons, fascia — released, reset, restored. (The nervous system intensifier.)

🌿 Let me tell you about the first time I experienced Reiki.
I didn't know what it was. I didn't know what to ask. I didn't know what to expect.
I just laid there.
And then something happened in the back of my knees. No one was touching me. Nothing was touching my skin. But I felt this heat — not a warm cozy heat — almost like a fever heat. Like something had been living there that didn't belong. And I felt it leaving.
And then I cried.
Not sad crying. Not performance crying.
Just… release. Like a door I didn't even know was locked had swung wide open.
I told my teacher and the student working on me things I had been carrying for years. Wounds. Trauma. Things I had been trudging through like mud every single day without even realizing how heavy it all was.
And when I got up off that table?
I wasn't trudging anymore. I was skipping. ✨
I felt light. I felt like me.
That experience never left me. Which is exactly why I offer Reiki today.
I'm not here to convince you of anything. I'm not going to tell you what to believe. I'm just going to tell you what I felt with my own body — before anyone even laid a finger on me.

🪐 We have officially discovered a new planet. 🪐
Right there on the massage table at Touch Of Joy .

A client came off the table today and said:
💬 "I feel like I'm on a new planet."
Me: "Oh good… wait — do you like this planet?" 😅
💬 "Oh yes. This is the BEST planet."
…cue both of us giggling 😄
