I've been away from this space for two years. During that time, I worked as a nurse manager in a regional hospital on the central coast of California. Now I've relocated again (further south), and I'm laying the foundation for a new private practice. So exciting!

It's official! I completed my Doctor of Nursing Practice degree from Frontier Nursing University. I'm very proud and honored to have earned this degree. I look forward to putting it to good use as a change agent for healthcare improvement!

I'm very excited to announce that I will present my final Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) presentation on Thursday, March 7, at noon (PST). For my doctorate, I did a quality improvement project entitled "Implementing Effective Screening and Management of Depression and Anxiety in a Nonprofit Women’s Health and Birth Center." This presentation shares how our small team of dedicated providers improved effective care from under 10% to over 80% in just 8 weeks!

First draft of my doctoral project submitted! I look forward to presenting the findings of my Quality Improvement project in about 5 weeks. The title of the project is:

Effective Depression and Anxiety Screening and Management in a Community-Centered Nonprofit Urban Women’s Health and Birth Center

I'm SO proud of our little team of clinicians, who persevered and developed processes to significantly improve our patients' depression and anxiety care.

A nice study in Cell Reports Medicine (January, 2023) compares three breathing techniques with mindfulness meditation to see what works best to relieve *acute* stress response. This is critical information for women's self-care, as increased feelings of anxiety often correlate with normal biological transitions such as adolescence, pregnancy, postpartum, lactation, premenstrual stage of the cycle, and perimenopause. So, basically...all of our humaning.
