A patient recently told me: "I thought my lingering postpartum issues were simply the price of motherhood."

The leaking.
The discomfort.
The feeling that something was just... off.

She'd been told:

"Give it time."
"You just had a baby."
"That's normal."

The biggest mistake high-achieving women make is thinking recovery is a waiting game.

It's not.

Recovery is a strategy game.

You can't outwork the wrong diagnosis.

You need clarity before you need more exercises.

And sometimes the thing you've accepted as "normal" is actually treatable.

šŸ‘‰If you've been told to "just give it time" but something still feels off...

"I wish someone had warned me about this."

If your body has been feeling... different lately, you're not alone.

Bladder leaks. Poor sleep. Pelvic pain. Changes in intimacy. Increased stress. Workouts that don't feel the same.

These can all be part of peri/menopause.

That's why I'm hostingĀ Train for Menopause, a free workshop designed to help women stop guessing and start understanding what's happening in their bodies.

You'll leave with practical strategies to support pelvic health, strength, movement, intimacy, and overall wellness—so you can feel informed, supported, and confident moving forward.

Here’s what 16+ years of treating painful pe*******on has taught me:

Pain with pe*******on is rarely just physical.

And it’s rarely just psychological.

It’s BOTH.

Because when pe*******on hurts, the pelvic floor muscles start guarding and tightening to protect you.

Then the nervous system learns:
ā€œThis is dangerous.ā€

So the next time?
Your body prepares before anything even happens.

Vaginismus sits at the intersection of:
→ Pelvic floor muscle guarding
→ Nervous system protection
→ Fear + anticipation around pain

All three matter.

Which means treatment has to address all three too.

I break this down in this video what’s actually happening in the body when pe*******on feels painful, impossible, or anxiety-inducing.

One of the biggest misconceptions about pelvic floor therapy...

is that it only helps with pregnancy or postpartum recovery.

But trauma, chronic stress, anxiety, and emotional overload can absolutely show up physically in the body.

That’s why healing has to go deeper than just exercises.

This patient shared that her recovery wasn’t just physical...it was emotional too.

And that’s exactly why we take a holistic approach to care.

Because you are not just a pelvis.
You are a nervous system.
A human being.
A whole person carrying real experiences.

Healing should never feel rushed or transactional.

You deserve care that actually sees the full picture. šŸ’›

If you’ve been struggling with symptoms that nobody has been able to connect the dots on, there is a plan forward.

ā€œIt feels like I’m hitting a wall.ā€

That sentence alone tells me SO much about what your pelvic floor might be doing.

A lot of women with vaginismus or pelvic floor tightness can WANT

intimacy…
be aroused…
feel safe…
and STILL feel completely blocked.

Why?

Because tight pelvic floor muscles don’t create space.

They guard.

And the more you push through pain, the stronger that guarding response becomes.

In this video, I explain:
āœ… Why pe*******on feels blocked
āœ… What ā€œhitting a wallā€ actually means
āœ… Why deeper pelvic floor muscles matter
āœ… Why forcing it makes symptoms worse

A lot of women prepare for pelvic exams the same way they prepare for a stressful work presentation...

Mentally brace.
Disconnect from their body.
Get through it as fast as possible.

That should tell us something.

Pelvic exams may be routine for providers…

but they are NOT routine for your nervous system.

Especially if you’ve experienced:
āž”ļø pelvic pain
āž”ļø painful s*x
āž”ļø vaginismus
āž”ļø medical anxiety
āž”ļø feeling dismissed in healthcare

Your body tightening during an exam is not you being dramatic.

It’s protection.

You are allowed to:
āœ”ļø ask questions
āœ”ļø ask providers to slow down
āœ”ļø take breaks
āœ”ļø advocate for your comfort

Women deserve pelvic healthcare that feels safe, informed, and respectful.

Not something they silently survive.

Your menopause ā€œback painā€ might not actually be coming from your back. šŸ‘€

Hormonal changes can affect tissue elasticity, recovery, and pelvic floor muscle function...

and those muscles connect directly into the hips and lower spine.

So the pain feels like:
✨ tightness
✨ stiffness
✨ aching that never fully goes away

The body isn’t falling apart.
It’s recalibrating.

And most high-achieving women push through symptoms for way too long before realizing pelvic health may be part of the picture.

You deserve answers before pain becomes your ā€œnew normal.ā€

One of the biggest myths around painful pe*******on?

ā€œThat it’ll just go away if you wait long enough.ā€

Because this isn’t always about ā€œtight muscles.ā€

It’s often about a nervous system that learned:
ā€œThis does not feel safe.ā€

So your pelvic floor responds automatically.
Clenching.
Guarding.
Bracing.
Avoiding.

The good news?
Protection patterns can change.

With the right support, education, nervous system work, and pelvic PT approach, your body can relearn safety.

And no...
wine is not the treatment plan.

That’s exactly what I’m teaching in my upcoming FREE 15-MINUTE EXPERT CHAT SESSION.

You bought the dilators. You followed the instructions.
You stayed ā€œconsistent.ā€ …So why are you still stuck?

Because dilators are a TOOL.

And most women are never taught the SYSTEM that actually makes them work.

If you’re a high-achieving woman who’s used to figuring everything out on your own, this can feel incredibly frustrating.

You don’t need more discipline.
You don’t need ā€œbetterā€ dilators.
And you definitely don’t need to blame yourself.

What you *do* need is a roadmap that explains:
✨ Why your body is responding this way
✨ How to use dilators correctly for YOUR body
✨ What's missing from the process
✨ HOW to finally make progress without feeling broken or defeated

That’s exactly what I’m teaching in my upcoming FREE 15-MINUTE EXPERT CHAT SESSION.
