Stuck and broken are two very different things.

When you're deep in a hard pattern, it's easy to believe something is fundamentally wrong with the relationship itself. Most of the time, that's not what's happening. A relationship that's stuck is running the same cycle on repeat because neither person has found the exit yet, not because it's doomed.

Your armor is comfortable. That's exactly why it's dangerous.

When your survival self takes over, it doesn't feel bad in the moment. It feels like clarity, like finally getting to say what you really think. That good feeling is exactly what makes it hard to interrupt, and it's the same defense that pushes your partner further away.

Swipe through for how to notice it in real time.

Comment ARMOR and I'll send you more on this pattern.

Ask a different question, and you learn a lot more.

Most people ask why someone cheated. Asking why someone didn't, in all the moments they could have, actually reveals more about what a relationship is protecting, a sense of integrity, love for their family, respect for their partner. When that protection weakens, it's worth noticing before anything happens, not after.

Swipe through for a useful reflection, not an accusation.

You don't have to be falling apart to walk through this door.

A lot of couples wait for real crisis, an affair, a near-breakup, before considering therapy, treating it like something reserved for emergencies. Couples who come in during a stable period tend to make faster progress, because they're building skills instead of putting out a fire.

Swipe through for signs it's worth considering now.

Comment MAINTENANCE and I'll answer your questions about getting started.

Fighting isn't the problem. Fighting dirty is.

Most people were never taught what a fair fight actually looks like. Conflict is normal, even healthy. What actually damages a relationship is how the conflict gets handled once it starts, no name-calling, no dragging in old grievances, no threatening to leave as a way to win.

Swipe through for the ground rules.

Fifteen minutes a week, before things pile up.

Without a regular check-in, small frustrations quietly stack up until they spill out sideways, often over something that isn't the real issue at all. A short, structured conversation once a week gives both people a predictable space to bring things up before they turn into resentment.

Swipe through for the exact format to try.

Comment CHECKIN and I'll send you the full weekly format.

You can't drag someone into wanting to be there.

It's incredibly common for one partner to push for therapy while the other feels like the suggestion itself is an accusation. Most partners who resist aren't rejecting the relationship, they're scared of being blamed or exposed. Understanding that fear changes how you approach the invitation entirely.

Swipe through for a better way to ask.

Comment READY and I'll send you a script for this conversation.

You don't have to feel close to start acting close again.

After a hard stretch, illness, betrayal, exhaustion, couples often wait to feel connected before they act connected. The waiting can stretch on for a long time, because the feeling doesn't reliably show up first. Small physical and emotional gestures actually help generate closeness rather than waiting for it to appear.

Swipe through for small ways to start.

Comment CLOSER and I'll send you more small starting points.

The schedule runs smoothly. Something else has gone quiet.

A lot of couples feel this shift long before they can name it, less friction, but also less warmth. Noticing it is actually the first step toward changing it, because it means you still remember what closeness felt like, and you still want it back.

Swipe through for the signs to watch for.

Roommates split the chores. Partners split the load.

A lot of couples who feel like roommates aren't actually failing at anything visible. The schedule works, the bills get paid, the house runs. What's missing is harder to name, the sense of actually turning toward each other. The real difference isn't affection, it's what happens after a disconnect. Partners come back around to close the gap. Roommates let it slide.

Swipe through for how to practice returning.

Comment RETURN and I'll send you a simple script for closing the gap.
