This acknowledgement opens every All-Staff and Board Meeting at Boyer, an intentional practice of gratitude and respect. On Indigenous Peoples' Day and always, we honor all Indigenous people, and especially the Coast Salish and Duwamish people, whose ancestral, unceded land we're grateful to stand on. 🪶

It’s National Physical Therapy Month, and our PTs get lots of questions about best ways to promote a baby’s gross motor development. Here is a tip shared by longtime Boyer PT, Gay Burton:

To encourage your baby’s independent mobility, provide time each day to explore wide open space down on the floor. Limit their time placed in furniture such as bouncers, highchairs (outside of meals), and ring/saucer walkers so your baby can naturally practice rolling, crawling, getting up into sitting and pulling up on furniture and standing independently. Arrange safe couches, ottomans, or low sturdy bars so your baby can practice side-stepping ("cruising") and bending down to squat and pick up toys from the floor.
