Legendary Major League Baseball pitcher Tommy John passed. Known for him immense baseball career, he was also known for the groundbreaking elbow ligament reconstruction named after him - still winning 164 of his 288 career games, after the procedure.

Tommy John surgery, or ulnar collateral ligament (UCL) reconstruction, replaces a torn elbow ligament with a tissue graft from the patient's body or a donor. It happens in sports that involve repetitive, forceful overhead throwing or swinging, many times throwers in baseball.
